These grossly overpriced JDM lures that cost literally, 5 to 10 to even 20 times what basic similar lures cost are insane. Lures get lost or wear out and are disposable items. For professionals, the very slight improvements these meticulously crafted lures might have may net one or two extra fish a year and could pay for themselves in prize winnings. But otherwise, it’s like a golfer who routinely shoots in the 110s using a $60 a dozen pro golf ball, all of which will end up in the woods or in ponds in short order, instead of a $15 dozen ball.

Just my opinion but lures that large should only be used in lakes with a significant population of over 4lb bass for obvious reasons All of the bass lakes within 100 miles of my home 4lb bass are not that common and 5lb or larger bass are very rare and the average sized bass is 2 to less than 4lbs and using worms over 8" in length in my lakes will become frustrating quickly as there are very good numbers of 2-3lb bass who will pick up a the section of a huge worm not containing the hook, you will sence the bite set the hook and pull the hookless section of worm out of the mouth of the bass. You will know by the damage done to your worm and its incorrect position on the hook that no doubt a fish had it in its mouth but you didn't hook up This happens so often to me I never use a worm over 8" in length now
@NorthernStrainStyle
@NorthernStrainStyle Ай бұрын
Let them run with the bait for 10seconds and see if that helps! Or try Neko rigging ur larger worms for better hook up ratio! This is in northern Minnesota and all the fish caught were in the 3lbs range.

Thanks for this vid! You think the 4.8 is big enough to get most of the big bites without being too big? I’m thinking the same as you about the jumbo baits…but central Ohio isn’t a big bass Mecca or anything. You guys got bigger green ones and brown ones up there lol
@NorthernStrainStyle
@NorthernStrainStyle Ай бұрын
I think it would be a great size to try out! Same with the deps Sakamata Shad 7” or 8”. I catch a lot of 2lbers on these bigger soft baits! The thing about these bigger baits is they get the fishes attention and they have to come check it out! And also give you a chance at catching the biggest bass in the lake! Everyone likes to downsize baits in tough conditions but I’m doing the opposite, I’m going to a bigger bait in tough conditions/heavy pressure and it’s been working great so far! Thx for watching!

Good video, that’s a big boy bait. Why did you say they only make 6” if you then mentioned 8”? Also what’s the reason for removing the original hook it comes with?
@NorthernStrainStyle
@NorthernStrainStyle Ай бұрын
Hey thx for watching! They only make the freestyle in a 6”. The 8” coming with a wire harness inside with a treble hook attached to the bottom. This lake is super weedy so taking that wire harness out and resealing it up then rigging it on a 12/0 owner weighted beast hook I can fish it through anything!!

I cut it from throat area to the hook holder. You’ll have to cut deep and once the wires exposed, then you can just rip it out through the belly. I seal it back up with 316 glue. It might seem like you’re wrecking the beat at first, but it seals back up really nice. Thanks for watching and thanks for the compliment!

This is a highly debatable topic, but I agree, I wouldn't like it if I was trying to do my thing and some douche bag is bonking me on the head with a liece if plastic. What's really bad is when tournament anglers catch them off the bed to then put them in a livewell and transport them away from the bed, never to return.
