Generally dwell time is irrelevant with the type of shooting this rifle is designed for. The scope on it is a joke as is the jumbojet sized can.
@PCMGuns
@PCMGuns 6 күн бұрын
The 3-12x50 S&B scope allows me to ascertain accuracy potential better, and if hunting, I'd fit something smaller. Ref the can, it's the only 5/8x24 UNEF one I have and it works, so I'm not bothered if its size offends you, as that comment is irrelevant. Dwell time, well, anything that can have a negative effect on accuracy, even at shorter ranges is worth bearing in mind.

I own the mortal x in 177 got it last September, unfortunately it developed an air leak, over 2 months now and still waiting for it’s return, normally prefer traditional wooden stocks but this one caught my eye, I like all the adjustments of the stock and it shoots really well, I found the mags aren’t the best, one of mine moves about and you have to move it at every shot, bought some spare ones, but I’m thinking of looking on the CARM website to see if he makes them. Good honest review of this Kral, so subscribing and see what else comes up.

Good greetings from Canada, that is another great shooter from Savage!!! I have some range time with this model, 1000 meters with 25 centimeter target with no issues. Great design for shooting targets and paper but very very heavy. My thoughts are that all versions of American straight pull Savage Impulse rifle really need a GRS style stock like the Bifrost or Warg model or the equivalent from MDT or Woox rifle stocks (especially in the mountain hunter model different than the model in your video). Think of Sako Quest 90 Carbon Fiber stock design on this Savage Impulse design of rifle chambered in 300PRC with a 26 inch carbon fibre barrel on the wide open Tundra in the North or in the high altitude mountain hunts, that would be truly impressive even at the range in PRS events as well. The stock design in your video is more for a semiautomatic or to a lesser degree a turn bolt action like 110, 700, model 70, howas or tikkas . These thoughts are based on almost 30 years of Hunter's experience who enjoys long-distance shooting at the range, and as for thumbhole stocks they really and truly provide the best advantage for semi-automatic in terms of accuracy improvement, no real speed improvement for thumbole straightpull tun bolt actiins. Having said all that, I still go hog hunting with an early 70's Sako Finnwolf lever action (well oiled and very quick) chambered in 308 win for more impressive speed on target as compared to a straight pull out of the box.

My 9yo daughter has this rifle in .243 and has taken the following Texas game with it. All immediate kills. Bobcat Whitetail deer (medium doe) Javelina Small wild boar Rabbit She is about 80 pounds and not quite 5 feet tall. This is a wonderful gun for young daughters. I have not found another length of pull this short with capable hunting calibers. The gun is more than accurate enough for ethical ranges in .243. Nice review. Thanks!

Nice informative video. I personally use prism optics rather than red dots due to my astigmatism. I have several nice red dot sights mounted to some of my guns and the problem I have with them is that the reticles have a star effect so it's difficult to know where the center of the reticle is. Since I've converted some of my rifles to prism sights I find the reticles to be sharp as they should be.
@PCMGuns
@PCMGuns Ай бұрын
Yes, it's a practical alternative. A French friend of mine has the same problem and can't use a conventional scope. He has an AimPoint Micro on his Blaser R8 and has taught himself to shoot very accurately, at ranges not usually associated with red dot systems. I have a Leupold Prismatic, which is a x1 mini scope with conventional reticle and that is a practical, little piece of glass!

I absolutely love my R8 Ultimate in .308. It is no budget rifle and you cant look at it thru those eyes. What it is however is the single best hunting rifle you can buy today. The mount is proprietary and expensive but its rock solid and perfectly repeats zero every single time, you just dont need to test fire it, trust the system it will work 100% of times. Barrel changes are something you might not utilize but its really nice to have. If you do decide to use a differend caliber for a differend application down the line you can get a barrel that will cost as much as a decend complete rifle but you get a premium R8 for your money. Even holds zero when swapping between barrels as long as the mount and the scope stays with the barrel.

The foresight post is similar to the M16/M16A1 post but lacks the groove in the top. That groove can be annoying because the post moves up or down by one (1) inch at 100 yards with each click AND rotates a quarter (1/4) of a turn. This changes the image of the foresight post from thin to thick OR vice versa when you use an odd number of clicks to raise or lower the point of impact.

READ THE EDIT BELOW!!! Seems you are reading the USA catalogue/website… Outside the US it’s in 22-250 Rem, .223 Rem, .243 Win, 6.5 Creedmoor, 6.5 PRC, 300 BLK & 308 Win. - there isn’t a 350legend available this side of the pond 🤷‍♂️ It’s a Rem700 footprint…change the stock to fit you…job done 🤷‍♂️ As for 6.5creed not being deer legal…coming in at an average speed from a 20” barrel well over “deer legal”…many deer stalkers in the uk use 20” barrelled 6.5’s. FYI it states on the website, the correct one, it’s a 7+1 for 223. EDIT - Because you have deleted my replies and have stopped me replying. You are reading the US information - so again you have the WRONG data...its even in the catalogue! The total rubbish about the 20" creed reply you have below...shows just how little you know, add that to not even providing the correct information...show's that you do not carry out due diligence or research. Shocking review and misinformation.
@PCMGuns
@PCMGuns 2 ай бұрын
My data says 6 for the 223, yes it does take 7 as I said Yes, from what I hear a lot of people are buying Stokes and binning the stock and replacing it with something more normal I did not say it was not large deer legal, I said a 20" barrel is not the best length, as from personal experience with the Creedmoor, the 6.5 Swede and the 243 Win, none of them give their best in short tubes. The only way to determine if it produces the required 1700 ft/lbs + is to chronograph the load you are using and I bet a lot of people don't bother and just go with what it says on the ammo box or reloading data. Which in all cases with a 20" will be lower. So it's just a matter of be aware of what your gun is actually producing. Yes, I know the Creedmoor kills well, but that's not the point, in England and Wales the law requires a minimum muzzle energy of 1700 ft/lbs, for Roe and larger species. So if your rifle is not making 1700 then you are breaking the law, stupid I would agree, but that's the way it is.

great review, as always! I think the extreme sierra (18 inch full stainless + cerakote )would be very interesting to see in .223, 18 inch barrel should give you more velocity possibly stabilizing those 68 grain rounds (I’ve seen the ridge sp in .223 do very well at 300 yards with the 18 inch barrel and 69 grain sierra bullets). Light, compact, stainless, if it shoots well it might give tikka a run for it’s money!

Not that I have found, which is annoying, as a bore snake is not ideal and rodding from the front even less so. My guess is, you'd have to drop the trigger mech housing and disengage the bolt from the action rods. I have never tried it, as I stripped down my old Browning BLR (Browning Leveraction Rifle), which has a rack and pinion-type system and had to send it back to Browning, as I could never get the last tooth to engage on closing. 😬

Hell I hit the buy now button before I even looked at the caliber of the rifle. 6.5 and a 24 inch barrel, well I guess I am going to have to learn to shoot a bit farther I thought.

I agree on the trigger, had a good look over the 505 at the BSS and just something about that trigger instantly felt...odd. it almost felt like something weird had been done in the linkage between trigger blade and sear, well in comparison to my R8 and numerous Sakos/Tikkas. The other thing was I did upset the stand personnel a lot by drawing parallels between the R8 and 505, they really didn't like the comparisons i.e. the obvious mount similarities between an R8 barrel and action and rubber inserts. Overall though, I'd happily have one as a "bolt action R8" if that was what was needed.
@PCMGuns
@PCMGuns 4 ай бұрын
Yes, the pretty blond lady from Sauer, seemed less than impressed with my similar R8 V 505 comments too. That quarto trigger is more gimmick than practical design and offers little real function. Position 3 works best for me, but doesn't hold a candle to my R8 and M03 units, both being crisp, light and predictable. I always found the 404's SUM scope mount awkward to set up and feel the switch to the Blaser system is a good move. However, I genualy like the 505 and would consider one when my old M03 finally goes home.
