Very confusing...not sure even presenter knows the platform engineering concepts

If you stop using "capabilities" and use "business need" or just "need", might have avoided all those mistakes. Words help to form ideas. Business doesn't NEED capabilities, business NEEDS to do certain stuff. It's almost same, just simpler, and helps to share with everyone what needs to be atchieved. Agile 101. Express business needs in the following atricture: As a ... I need /want to ... So that ... And pretty much all you mistakes could have been avoided.

ArgoCD is useful software but don't think that every software is kubernetes based. so don't sell it something as silver bullet.

11:19 - “collaborate on something that we can’t do yet” sounds like "let's have ops being the bottleneck” I think asking product engineer to learn terraform is just like ask them to learn config.json or some infrastructure.yaml The end of day, whatever interface platform create has: 1. worse documentation than Terraform 2. block developer to achieve flexibility 3. cost platform resources and just create more headcount

PowerShell would only work in Windows environments. I created a cli written in go and create execuables for windows, linux and mac. For updates I use established packe manager. In Windows is it scoop with a private bucket.

PowerShell has been open sourced in 2016 allowing to be executed on Linux and Mac OSs. Windows PowerShell is not, as it uses .NET framework being able to run only on Windows environment. Windows PowerShell != PowerShell

4:00 Love the idea that we can broaden the definition of who is a developer to expand what PE and DevEx means and whom it applies to. There are value streams there that also have a multiplicative effect when applied to more traditionally Ops oriented roles.

Thanks for a great presentation! When creating a secret store that namespace users should not have direct access to, how does that store know the credentials to the upstream vault? If it's storing those credentials in a Secret, I assume the users would be able to read it. So is the service account token (or whatnot) stored inside the secret store object?

like agile once went.. the route ito make money with books, talks and certifications. When the goal is to build software that helps people. crazy
