I would love a APS-C Q-series resurrection with a flippy out screen, excellent and fast autofocus with a useful video mode, USB-C charging and the option of being able to be used effectively as a webcam too. But let's be honest, none of that is going to happen unfortunately so I'll continue building up a small Sony kit instead and use my Pentax K3 mark 1 and Q-S1 for other uses.

Pentax gear always cheaper than the competition in the DSLR market (also worst ftom a technical point) . Market shrinks so much so that mostly people without money for new stuff, or beginners still buy DSLR. Pentax fans: proof Pentax is better than the competition!! This delusion made the company stagnate.

this question makes no sense at all. kodachrome has been gone for so long, many photographers don't remember it. the real question is, will Pentax make such a great new film camera that photographers will want to shoot film again?

I think a return of Kodachrome would be another great addition to the limited film variety. I wonder what the pricing would be, I am guessing a premium due to the complexity of development. My families photos were all taken on slides, much of them on Kodachrome, so I been very interested in trying it again. I do 80% digital and 20% film.

An updated fully retro K1000, aperture priority with manual and possibly a program mode. Selectable metering modes, average and spot, exposure memory lock, faster top end shutter speed1/ 2000, 1/4000. Of course, manual wind and rewind of film, ISO from 3 to 6400.

Stick to the 17's format, but with the APSc lens compatibility, the aftet that a full frame. Plus a rewrite of the DSLR firmware to match the video features to the standards of the stills funtionality.

A new 6x7 version would be cool! But mostly waiting for the new K1 mark III.

If Pentax is going to make 2 more cameras, they should make a 35mm film rangefinder camera and a film SLR.

I decided to recondition my Spotamatic instead of buying the new Pentax 17 zThe Spotamatic needed new light seals which were inexpensive to replacevi do not need another cropped camera as all my Pentax DSLR''S are APS-C ( istDL, K100D, K3-11 & K3 Mark III) i gave my K50 & K70 to my son for him and his wife.

Which fully compatible tele zoom lens would you recommend for the Pentax K10D that's inexpensive and second-hand?

thank you from the future, this helped me update my k100d 🙂 i got it for cheap because i was not going to buy something expensive that id be too afraid to use for fear of damaging it. i did not realise the hidden cost: trying to locate tech that was commonplace back then in order to get it up and running, so idk, leaving this comment as a caveat for anyone looking at getting an older camera 10+ years. here are two things i did not think i would be facing issues with: 1) SD card. had to find an SD card with smaller memory. i didnt know these were still being made. when i was in high school 2gb was heaps lol. I'm lucky they're still selling these at the time I'm writing this, but it may not be true in 5-10 years. which, fair enough, things evolve. I used a 2gb one and it was fine. 2) Software. my macbook (pro) would not extract the hqx file. apple was going to make me pay 40nzd for the software in the app store. i was not paying 40 dollars to extract one file. i wound up finding a free software with a quick internet search (The Unarchiver, for anyone on the hunt) but yeah, dont know if this will still be around in the future. all the best future person looking at getting an older camera!

Coming from adapted K on Sony E, I had no idea what stop down mode meant until I started messing with my k-x. Once I figured out the body actually holds the aperture lever wide open and only released it on shutter press, I figured it out. But the auto metering is a life saver. A little bit cumbersome compared to Sony's live view exposure, but I just love the ergonomics of DSLRs, and the Pentax feels even more comfortable and intuitive than my Canon. On my k-x, the av button operates stop down, but I think I can program my green button to do it as well.

I have a k-x and even new batteries show as depleted I was told a firmware update will fix it but there's no way for it to be "fully charged"

Is this what we can look forward to with the new KF, considering they're the same camera? It's really embarrassing that Pentax would put out an essentially unchanged camera this many years later. The K-70 wasn't that much different than the K-S2, which came out in 2015. SAFOX IX+ autofocus upgraded to SAFOX X, 5.4 fps upgraded to 6 fps. And now here we are in 2023 and we get a KF that is the same as a K-70. It's 8-year-old tech.

Try the Pentax 55mm f1.4 lens.
