Beautiful work. I wonder if you could make a shallower plunge with the forstner bit followed by a deeper plunge with the bowl bit on the router to eliminate the dimple in the center of the tray from the pilot screw of the forstner bit. Edit: when I first watched the video it looked as if there was a dimple left. I watched it again and now I'm not sure. So, if I'm wrong then please forgive me.

Thanks for your feed back, and that was something I was trying to do without making the plunge cut too deep, but there was a slight dimple left in the bottom of a few of the ashtray. I chalk it up to being a learning experience 😊

You said you would try and do it in your last video that was faster paced…..and you done did it! Lotta work for sure and glad you got paid, but like you said at the end-each project we learn from. So, to help me learn, a couple questions when you get time, please. 1) could you please share the name/brand of that 4” cutter? Never seen that and looks so much safer than the one I’ve used. 2) a novel way to make the grooves for the cigar holder…did you get much burning from the pressure of holding into the rubber disc? Or maybe walnut doesn’t burn like say, cherry would. 3) what type of sprayer is that and I’m guessing it serves you well? It seems a much more simple device than others. 4) will I hurt your feelings by saying I could do without any music but hey, it ain’t my channel!! Your delivery and your work speak for themselves I feel. Great job and thank you for sharing the full build in detail.

Thank you for the feed back and also thanks for the questions, I will attempt to answer them as best as I can. 1) could you please share the name/brand of that 4” cutter?: - ASNOMY 4 Inch Forstner Drill Bit / a.co/d/08EnsAHH 2) a novel way to make the grooves for the cigar holder…did you get much burning from the pressure of holding into the rubber disc?: - There was a little burning, but not as much as I thought there would be, and I managed to sand most of the burn marks off before applying my finish. 3) what type of sprayer is that and I’m guessing it serves you well? It seems a much more simple device than others. : - Paint Sprayer, 700W HVLP Spray Gun with Cleaning & Blowing Joints / a.co/d/0iJ9DmF5 and yes it did serve me well and is quite simple to use. just make sure to clean it in-between uses to avoid it getting clogged. 4) will I hurt your feelings by saying I could do without any music. : - I am always open for some constructive feedback and to be honest with you I have been looking in to making more of the woodworking version of an ASMR video without music. I am still figuring out the best format for my videos, so maybe I will try the next one without music, or maybe some lower volume more serene music.

We get to see so many glimpses of your technique or methods but at such a fast pace! Made me really want to see a more in-depth of the progression for better understanding but that’s ok-leave them wanting more!! Nice job.

I really do appreciate your feedback and usually I tried to make videos where I actually explain what I’m doing, but I never really intended to do that with this one because I never really intended to put it out as a video. But after looking at the clips that I took during the process, I decided to make a video at the last minute.

This is a fun build and I really appreciate the depth you went into with your explanations on the procedure. No matter that others say I would do this or that…you have given the blueprint for those of us hobby guys to get started and everyone can tweak things as they will. Again, thanks for your share of your talent.

You did a very nice job with what you made of it. Very well done and continue on the journey of wood and the way it all comes together to be beautiful. Now make something and sell it to finance something that would make you more money and enjoyment doing. Looking forward to more of your fine projects.

OK. Well that's one way of doing it!!! Drilling all the way thru leaves - "The hole in the bottom that needs plugging issue!!!" :-). Not for me. I don't want my hootch leaking out at any future point!!! MY 2 PENNY'S WORTH... or dimes as y'all say over thar!!! These "glasses" can be made using a similar method on a bandsaw, or cut by hand using saws or chisels. The container is done AS YOU HAVE DONE but I'd adjust the drill bit to be just proud of the hole drill cutting teeth. Then just drill to about 3/4" or so shy of the bottom***. That way... no hole thru the bottom. Finishing the inside can also be done with Ball End grinders rather than a router***. ***These are small items so they need to be FIRMLY ANCHORED before doing any of that stuff!!! Safety first. EACH TO THEIR OWN. NO INSULT INTENDED!!! Thanks for posting!!! THIS MAY BE USEFUL: @TheTechnosasquatch 5 years ago Wooden cups are traditionally boiled in water for a while to help finish them. That will leach the remaining oils and other impurities that the tree absorbed while it grew. Boil it and try again, worst that can happen is either the cup splits and you have to seal it or it just goes back to being a pencil cup/vase.

I am stating on my wood shop as well and I love looking at other crafters work. Good job and great use of scrap wood. You just gave me some inspiration to use my scrap wood which usually ends up on the fire pit. Be blessed and good luck in your journey.

Hi @stormwolf78. The large hole saw is 2 inches (51mm) and the smaller one is 1.3 inches (35mm). I hope that helped🙂👍🏾

Look great curious if itd be easier to run a bolt and nut through the center hole and stick it on a drill and make an impromptu “lathe” to get it to shape. Could even make a shaped sanding block for consistency then plug the bottom hole last and do the final bit after its 99% done

Looks good. Also my trainer safety side is coming out. You do not want to wear gloves while using the belt sander. They can so easily get caught. Same with the drill press. If you are lucky, it will only leave you with stitches. Worse case is degloved hand. Sorry, but that was something I always told people I was training. Had one guy not listen and he was lucky and only needed stitches.
