Just finished SAO season 2, and from this video, the one thing we actually do need with the current tech we have, is not some magnificent 360hz 16k oled screens with dandelion smells in your armpits you could notice for some obscure reason.. It's the games. How many VR games can you count that is even on the level of SAO's level of world design, gameplay and physics for instance? Physics, interactions, lifelike npc's, extremely deep technicalities in stuff you can do/discover and heck, develop your own sword skill for instance. Furthest we have is literally literally players being walking cones with ps3 graphics with a tad higher textures. Look at halflife alyx, i can't even whack a headcrab with a chair, let alone hold a chair to block a headcrab's path. Before we even get into making our entire consciousness be transferred to the game, we might wanna work on the games first. Not some flimsy shit free to play with all ray traced armors for 15 bucks with fuckall interesting gameplay, but proper large worlds with proper physics and realism. We so far have 1 mmo i can recall for VR, and it's not even that interesting. nor good looking. I've wanted a quest 3 for it's 11x better A.I performance and better visuals overall, but what would that help if there's barely anything good to play that really makes it feel like you're in another world, and forgetting you're in a video game. I've not touched my quest 2 properly in a year soon because it has no reason to make me want to play VR. Maybe only for workouts to keep up cardio, which was the last few activities i did in it. Apart from that, i've grown tired of VR.

I find it funny that you showed a clip of Kazuma from Konosuba to represent how jack-of-all-trades people are useless in teams, because that's the exact opposite of what the series portrays. Kazuma is consistently shown to be the glue that holds the party together. The entire point of his character is that he's seemingly a weak nobody with no skills, but is actually just highly-skilled at leading a party of highly-specialised people who'd otherwise be completely incompetent on their own. Although you do need specialisation in order to *actually* get many tasks done, people with generalised knowledge are required to see the bigger picture and lead individuals with different specialisations.

To do anything like NerveGear and fullldive VR, we will *most likely* need an implant. So to give Elon some credit, he is getting us closer to fulldive. The problem for most is that it will require sticking something into your skull and brain.

I know this was three years ago, but even as someone who has a headset, i never use it. I've experienced it, but it's just so much effort to maintain vs what you get out of it, you get a headache trying to use it for too long. It's a fun thing from time to time, but not something I use that often.

Ironic you go away just when we're finally starting to be on the eve of technology possibly accelerating because of ai. There's a lot more potential now for full dive to be a thing in the foreseeable future.
@mattsease4687Ай бұрын
Maybe we are all in a deep dive currently. Could be why we are here. A little training for the real world. Just hack into this universe's code and voila should be able to place someone in another layer. Inception so to speak. If this wasn't a fictional theory, then you could hack bad actors into their own inception world of other even more bad actors. I should probably come back to reality now. 😂

Greetings from 3 years in the future, we now have broken into a new level of AR, there is now the Quest Pro with color passthrough, and the Quest 3 with not only color passthrough but true environment interaction AR, meanwhile Apple has finally released their device called the Vision Pro, which they call a "Spatial Awareness device" providing near lifelife passthrough alongside retina level VR with the ability to not only use them outside, but have the ability to be used while on a plane or while in a car. Meta has also released a new pair of smart AR glasses with RayBan with smart AI features that can automatically translate things you are looking at. Later this year Meta is going to break into EMG bracelets that read your brains signals to your arms and hands in order to provide input for tracking. Can't wait to see where we go from here!

@0:45 not quite accurate the PS4 is accually faster than the XR2, not by alot though. Main issue with the standalone concept is the xr2 is sitting at 1.25 Tera Floating-point operations per second. Which might sound good, until you realize a 4080 RTX is sitting at around 64 TFLOPs. Which brings up the other main issue of the Quest design, the USB-C bandwidth limits and video compression. There is a reason Meta apps look like absolute ass compared to PCVR.

I've been wanting to do a video with you, man. I've made some amazing developments into creating an AI like the cardinal system from SAO.

Where can I see your work?
@richardhicks5031Ай бұрын
@ANT-jm4qx Right now it's not public but what I can share is it a network of narrow AIs separated into groups each with their own task and function with higher levels of networked AI that pool everything into a coherent quest-line/adventure. The basic ID is that at the bottom level of the net work, you have AI that generates a story, monsters, treasure, and unique dialog. The next level up will meld these all together, then adjust everything to fit each other. The level above is the final layer that will disperse the information to the appropriate systems to implement the quest-line/Adventure I've got plans for how to make more realist NPCs but that requires working with a game dev who is willing to allow me to sandbox a classic machine learning Bot script that I can then super impose onto NPCs and can customize the script based on profession allowing the NPC To seem alive as it uses in game systems to survive while also using GPT-like ai to help in sound more human
@richardhicks5031Ай бұрын
@ANT-jm4qx there's a bit more to it, but I can't continue without game dev support. I suck at making games, who know how my current setup will even interact with a game's systems. Then, there are the actual hardware limitations. My current AI network spans several servers and rivals, a small crypto mining farm
