I wouldn't say that you ripped off a song, but this song sounds quite a bit like Steve Winwood's Blind Faith song"Can't find my way back home." :-)

TOM WAITS SONG--- MISS SINGING THIS ONE
@soltemple38910 күн бұрын
I've always respected your songwriting. I feel that most of modern music that was produced in the past 25 years just doesn't feel authentic to me. I can't feel the music the way I used to when I heard artists like you, Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, Neil Young and on and on. It feels more like ambitious, competitive and successful artists that are selling me an image instead of a connection. I don't mean to sound negative. This song about crying resonates with me. I can watch a movie clip from "Goodwill Hunting" or "Karate Kid" and sob away. Sometimes just placing my hand on my heart can make me emotional. I also write music and poetry and you are one of my influences. I vow to write from a natural experience, whether good or bad. Thank you for being someone I can look up to. Peace and love to you.

When you become aware of Shawn Colvin in the 2000's, and she has MCC, John Levanthal, and others that came along side her in her recordings and "Hits", THEN, a video like this surfaces and you see what she was doing before that time period, I realize how articulate her guitar playing is as well as her emotional investment in solo acoustic guitar. I could sit for hours listening to her doing solo acoustic, and in a way feel like she is allowing you to read her diary through her lyrics. At times she gets a bit too dark for me, but then, it's life stories and we all have dark times. Thank you for posting this, along with the early David Wilcox one a saw a while back.

Shawn, as a performer, what you can do with your voice and guitar is unmatched. As a songwriter, you write beautifully at a depth of melody and lyric that allows endless revisiting. And whether it's your own songs or others', you are able to reinterpret every lyric, re-ornament every melody with incredibl insight and creativity. Thank you, thank you.

Well, that song certainly ricochet me in time 😄…Dear Shawn, I was at a small concert you gave in Plattsburgh, NY many a decades ago and before fame came along. It is to this day one of my most cherished moments in life. Your voice, that acoustic guitar and the lyrics struck a note in my heart and you became an integral part of my life for a few years. But as you moved on, so did I. This song and many others still have a special place in my heart. So thank you for the music dear Shawn. Sending you heartfelt greetings from Germany 🙋🏻♀️❤️

The best concert I ever attended was on one hot Summer evening, upstairs in an remodeled, enclosed church balcony, where you opened for Richard Thompson. He's great! I went to see you. I thought that your guitar handler was a teenage boy, but you set up the stage, yourself, sans makeup. When you began to play, I got a clue. Wow! Such a tiny package just bursting with talent. I've seen you several times with your stellar sidemen. Most excellent shows. You solo with the D-28, unplugged, is really where it's at, though. That's a pretty, student model guitar in your hands, but it doesn't have the string tension to drive the top for dynamic response. How about an album of unpublished originals, solo guitar and voice? Brutally honest songs like the one above are commendable, but not essential to great songs, in my view. As for the selfie vids, you need some soft diffuse lighting, such as an umbrella reflecting the light off the inside towards the subject. Clive Davis bought up all radio ad time, years in advance. There's no explicit quid pro quo, but nobody else can buy radio advertising in the big markets. Someone ought to file charges for Payola, and sue for damages. If you are Indy, you have to find small, low power stations, within broadcast range of the big city. Ads cost much less. Buy some time, and then ask the salesman if he might be willing to have the program director listen to your ad which contains a clip of your music. If he likes it, he can play your songs in drive time heavy rotation. If they want your continued business, they might deduce for themselves that it would be good for them to play your recordings. Of course the drive time DJs will want to interview you, as well. Search: radio-locator .com (KZfaq won't let me link.)

I simply adore her. Her voice, musicality and songwriting are simply perfect. I saw her a few years ago in Mobile AL. She was sick with the flu but did not want to cancel and disappoint her fans. You don't see dedication like that very often. It is why us fans love her so much.

I simply love this woman. Here voice is sweet as honey and her songwriting as good as it gets. I wish she was coming closer to where I live this year. I saw her in Mobile AL a few years ago. She was sick with the flu but still performed because she did not want to disappoint her fans. That kind of dedication is what garners true love from her fans.

Such uncomplicated song perfection en pointe, and that voice - there is no one quite like Shawn, Joni comes close, and Chapin - but Shawn, like Nick Drake, has something else.
