Aren't you concerned that using these for the gym a weight might fall on your foot and you'll have less protection with them than with normal shoes? Also about the white version, doesn't it get dirty super quick and it's harder to clean than the black version?

I think you are correct. I purchased the Remarkable 2, the Marker Plus and the Keyboard Folio back in October 2023 I believe. I just purchased last week an iPad mini 6 with a screen protector that feels like paper, along with an Apple Pencil. I came to the same conclusion as you. I am trying to keep using the Remarkable, but I am finding that the Apple Notes it makes sense. I love how no matter how you rotate the screen, your writing surface size does not change. I wanted this ability in OneNote, but OneNote isn't designed just for taking notes by writing. I don't read books on the Remarkable although I did add books to it via PDF because I find it better for writing. Not typing, Not reading PDF's, just writing. The keyboard is nice, but I don't like the fact that you cannot move the cursor to the very beginning of the page, so you are typing in your journal as you would write. Because of the overall cost of the Remarkable2, I will try once more to keep using it, but it hasn't really changed much for me as I thought it would. I believe the iPad will over time, just not sure ultimately if I am going to write on it daily, or keep using the Remarkable. If I had to do this all over again, I would have just purchased the iPad mini.

I like obsidian and only issue I have with it is Sync. I use iCloud Sync and iCloud being iCloud, it deletes files most of the time to optimize the storage and create this awful experience with the app that rely on that feature. To use pencil in Obsidian, I use the excalidraw that has the best feature to link multiple pages from within the drawing. It allows to download new icon set and use them freely. The excalidraw has thousands of icon sets that you can download for free. Icons are broad in excali and help create things fast. You can download icon library related to Databases and use them to create tables, arrows that has different meaning in databases, etc. The possibility is endless but like I said, sync sucks for cloud based applications. Apple being the OS controller, they can tune their application to have priority on cloud data, feature sets, and all. Being a software engineer, I like obsidian just for the fact I own the data. With plugins I can do a lot of things on top. Few things I do with it are: 1. Write all my web content on it and push to github for the hosting. 2. Create personalized graph and analysis of habit from the daily notes using plugins. 3. Run automated file move on different folder on tag trigger. 4. Refrence code and be able to write code blocks. 5. Write separate ruled markdown and then write javascript to generate new things with it. But I get why apple note is the easiest of all and it works for most people. Loved the take.

I experience this same struggle. Apple Notes has gotten really good, but I find it much faster to type and edit things in Obsidian. I am currently using a mix of both Obsidian and Apple Notes, with Apple Notes being for all my personal/shared stuff, family things, and quick thoughts. Obsidian is more for work and longer-term writing. Also, Apple Notes does not have backlinks, which I really need. Being able to link to a note is great, but backlinks are much more effective.

I went through a similar journey myself. I got in deep with Notion and Roam Research (the later was actually very cool), but now I just use Apple notes for everything. I have started using Ulysses for my writing but that's basically it. Great video btw!

The biggest downside of apple notes to me is the fact that you cannot zoom out. I also have an ipad with apple pencil which I love to use sometimes for taking notes but as soon as I start drawing on apple notes I feel so cramped knowing I cannot zoom out. For this reason I use OneNote which I'm my opinion has the only downside that pencil text looks terrible AND it doesn't move with the text. Apart from that I think it does the job.

I just started using Apple Notes because it has the most obvious necessity - a folder structure. I had some notes in Keep that I rarely accessed because there's no folder structure - just a bundle of boxes of text. Apple Notes is making me consider buying an iPhone to add to my Macbook Air. Slowly falling into the Apple ecosystem.

dont listen to this guy, I used apple notes for my subjects and 1 semester worth of notes, it worked fine in my ipad, when I opened them on my phone to revise, and opened it back on my ipad, all the notes turned into one big a** image. also the notes starts lagging once you cross around 20 pages

The stability issues don't occur on Linux at all. I only use LV2 plugins for LMMS so i can't really say anything about the VST support. When i do use VST i mostly the Windows version of Reaper on Linux. I am not sure what you mean by transfering issues? I switch between systems quite often and i never had any issues transfering the projects.

LMMS as easy to use as FL Studio ? Never in a million years. I am a musician and I've been making music with different DAWs since 2010 (Cubase, Samplitude, FL Studio, Studio One, LMMS, etc.). Everytime I want to make 10 to 15 new musics with a fresh perspective, I try a new DAW so I tried LMMS. I couldn't even make 15 new musics with it like I usually do (I think I only did about 12 new musics before I gave up). It has some strengths : it is very good to make drums for instance, but not for building complex melodies. And I can't for the life of me understand why would a DAW makes drums and melodies in a completely different way. I liked Samplitude and Studio One, I revisit them from time to time but I will never, ever, use LMMS again. Some drums and sounds are quite nice and innovative, that's true and they're of good quality and LMMS is free which is a big plus but if you're not careful your songs can easily be saturated if you're not careful when you export your songs. I never had those kind of sound problems with FL. For me FL is the best, then Studio One and then Samplitude. But if you want to complicate your life, so yeah you can try meddling with LMMS but only if you're truly broke or if money is really an issue because LMMS is free : that is its only appeal. But if you can afford from 300 €/$ to 800 €/$ FL Studio is so much easier to use than LMMS and your production will sound much more professionnal in an effortless way.

Lol. You did not do carnivore, but the title did make me click on it. I’ve only been on a strict carnivore diet for almost three months. This is the second time I’ve tried this, the first time I made a mistake and ate to lean of meats, I did not have enough fat and I felt very lethargic and had cramps when I exercised. This time, I’ve increased the fat and I feel great, but I’ve actually been doing carnivore, strictly only meat for almost three months. It’s really interesting how you speak with authority when you did not do it. I hope people aren’t turned off by it because it has been a wonderful thing for our family. Don’t avoid fat! It’s counter intuitive, but when you eat carnivore the more fat, the better. It’s pretty clear that you didn’t research this at all, no offense, but there’s so many doctors out there that can give provide actual facts. Dr Ken Barry, Dr. Chaffee to name a couple.

One thing I didn’t clarify in the video: I’m using the DJI Mic 1 because I bought it before the DJI Mic 2 came out. The DJI Mic 1 is also cheaper, so if budget is a concern, the Mic 1 will do just fine. However, if you want your setup even more portable, you can wirelessly pair the Mic 2 to the Action 4.

Good vid. I originally bought the Action 3 for vlogging but I found the image was softer than I liked. It's apparently improved in the 4 but still not ideal. I like the thinking to maximize your time and make vids while driving, but if you have the time I'd suggest doing the vids while parked in a spot where you have more control over ambient light, stopped with the engine off will cut out most of the ambient noise and you can also frame the shot so you fill more of it, I think that'll help create more compelling content. Perhaps most importantly when you aren't driving you can focus all of your attention on what you have to say. The same idea applies with walking and talking in a park or some other chill space. It'd have to be some pretty compelling content for me to watch someone while they're driving. Most KZfaq vids i've seen in vehicles are stationary for some of the reasons I cite above. You offhandedly mentioned "puking out" videos. I think we've gotten to the point where people expect more from the content they consume. Don't worry about recording several hours of footage each week, rather on making one quality video then scale up from there. You have the editing down you just need to keep developing your voice and probably drill down and concentrate more on your personal experience. What you mentioned about balancing work, family life, KZfaq and your other hobbies sounds like a video series in itself. Good luck.

Dope video, just a heads up you're shooting with a shutter speed that is faster than the alternating current frequency of your lighting at your desk. You're not using professional lighting or using some cheap light or room light. Lower your shutter between 1/30th and 1/50th of a second and you should get rid of those light bands.

You might said it, but why not skip the receiver, and pair the mic directly with the Action 4? They talk together.

I am looking for an E-book only. Something I can use to take notes, and then automate reminders for those notes: • Boss assigned Project X to me, it is due in ... days. > Step 1 ... Reminder in 2 days > Step 2 ... Reminder in 5 days > etc. Reminder in 10 days. I am using the Rocketbook, which is actual paper (plastic coated which allows me to wipe the pages clean for reuse). But it feels like a whiteboard, and I have to take a picture of the page, which sends an email, then allowing me to set a set of reminders. From your experience would the Remarkable get me to the full digital space allowing for automation? I am an Android user, and have no desire to use an iPad. There are other E-book/pads I'm looking at, but the simplicity of only taking notes is what keeps bringing me back to the Remarkable. I don't need an E-Reader like the Amazon Scribe, I don't need full color, just a way to take notes and then integrate those notes into my calendar / ToDo lists so my notes don't get buried in the belly of another paper notebook that I'll seldom review again. I appreciate your thorough review. The one thing I was waiting for in your Con list for the Remarkable that I've seen others mention was the lack of a backlight. If I'm taking notes in a meeting and the lights are turned down for a video, will I have challenges in reading what I've written? Thank you again.
@MalachiCorliss3 ай бұрын
So in regards to your automation desire, this device won't be able to do that for you. It's pretty bare bones on "features", it's designed to do a few things really well but is limited past that. It's essentially a digital paper notebook without having to turn pages, and shouldn't be treated as anything more. Not having a backlight is a con for sure, but I personally didn't find it to be a problem very often. Again, it's very similar to reading a book or writing on a notebook, and I think the appeal is that it doesn't "feel" like you are looking at a digital screen so not having a backlight really wouldn't only come up unless you are writing in the dark.
