Hello Ross Foster. I hope this message finds you. You will remember me well, Chuck Gardiner, as your part-time and sometimes full-time #1 Gas Jockey at your Texaco gas station in the mid/late-1960s, while a student at Chetwynd Secondary School, and afterwards. My last shifts worked would have been in the summer of 1969, before again heading off to art collage in Nelson, B.C. I believe I also worked for you again in the summer/autumn 1970, as well. I pumped gas, washed windshields; and checked oil, batteries, and fan belts. I also helped-out with minor mechanical jobs. I remember many times handing you wrenches as you worked on and under cars up on the hoist. I was always impressed with your mechanical skills. Seemed like you could fix anything. And, you taught me a lot about work--and life in general. I did end up with a 7-year advertising art job in Vancouver, and a career selling real estate (mostly new house and condo projects) with a few other wrinkles thrown in. My Chetwynd "Fire Department" story is that I was walking to work one quiet, dull, misty, cold (about 5 degrees below freezing), winter, Sunday morning, on the “side road” (now N Access Road) to open-up the Texaco, at 10 am, and get the station ready for the day’s work. While walking, I happened to glance to the right and noticed that there was an open space where the Fire Hall should be. A closer squint revealed a smoking building foundation and the smoldering burnt skeleton of a fire truck. Yikes! I trudged-on and opened-up the Texaco. Finding this video on KZfaq was a delight. Very good to see you, Ross, and others, speaking on camera. Of course, I have not heard the names of people mentioned for some time. Brought back a lot of memories. It would be great if I could hand you a wrench--again.---Chuck Gardiner.

So glad I made use of the RV park's Wi-Fi and checked out the town's website while hiding from the rain. I saw some of these as I got into town, and I'll be spending a few hours checking them all out tomorrow before continuing my road trip. Just absolutely amazing artistry.
