Hi and thanks very much. As you can see I’m no expert by a long way but I use the clutch to pop the front wheel up to the log then just blip the throttle for the next bit. We have set up multiple obstacles to practice on and often plan which technique will be worked on next after watching endless ytube vids. Trialsprogression is a wonderful learning channel, definitely recommend it.

Thanks very much 🙂 Definitely get one, they’re great fun and really easy to ride. The gearing is so low in 1st and 2nd that you don’t have to worry about anything stupid happening. You can build up confidence and skills gradually, just start with balance then try riding over a small log and build up to whatever you feel brave enough. 👍

I'm still working on balance and throttle/clutch control. I get a little freaked out when the front wheel comes up but hopefully that's something I will get used to
@crashbangbikers8 ай бұрын
Just keep practicing and it’ll be fine. Takes a while to get up to balance point and be confident enough not to either pull the clutch straight in or hit the back brake! I found trying to keep a gentle throttle going and without letting off use the rear brake to control it, that way it doesn’t come straight back down. Also it’s virtually impossible to wheelie slowly, I ended up going to 3rd to avoid tipping sideways but it’s scary doing it that fast to start with so build confidence with clutch etc then increase speed. I also found I’d have days when I didn’t feel I’d improved at all and sometimes felt it was getting worse but just keep going as all of a sudden things start to click! Good luck 🙂
@066motocross8 ай бұрын
I think you did awesome! I'm just starting out at 59 years old and it's very hard to find events in the US. The nearest club who holds events is 4 hours away. It's all about motocross over here. I wish trials would catch on. I have a Gas Gas TXT 300 (a way too big bike for me at 139 pounds) but I got a great deal on it. I'm thinking about practicing static balance and tight figure 8 turns on it then hopefully trade for a Beta EVO 200. Even the trials motorcycles are extremely hard to find here. Well I hope your doing good 👍
@crashbangbikers8 ай бұрын
Thanks, we have the same problem here in West wales. No events close to us so mainly just messing about in the garden. Well done for taking it up, it’s great fun and amazing how quickly you improve. Static balance seems to be the key to everything. If you’re struggling to start with let your tyres down. Makes it so much easier and helps to build confidence! Good luck 🙂

In 1973 I was 16 and got a 250 Bultaco Sherpa-T. I did ride several hours per day. Eventually I could wheelie in 4th gear for as long as the field allowed. Up grade was easier but eventually I could go down grade as well. I never looped my bike either. It was a great bike and also very reliable. Very impressive for a bike that today would be 50 tears old. One tip, when riding a rocky stream, go with the flow. Ride where the water is flowing.
