To be honest, I prefer this method/idea for the hand a lot more than the one shown in the Art school Programm, as it shows more simplifications for the anatomy itself rather large shapes that simplify the entire thing, it makes the shading more logical as well. It is obviously harder and requires a lot of practice, especially if we talk about different angles, but I like it more nonetheless.

I only learned this recently. Tip for anyone interested, try to use 3d modelling software e.g. Blender as a basic reference. I imported a free model and added some basic lighting and I now have a good reference for almost any pose. This could help until you can make your own proportioning

Do we create a layer for every part of the shading process or on only one layer🤔
@71ArlekinoКүн бұрын
Actually, after time and burnout I realize there's a lot of bad advice here. Like muddy shading. Art needs abstraction and variation. Such a polished approach is the way to nowhere (those who just do sweaty rendering will be replaced by AI). Of course, just fiddling with a brush is not an option - you need to plan shapes. The same applies to the full range of values - a good painter does not treat the value scale like all-you-can-eat buffet. This advice is a mess. If you have too black or light shadows - you didn't plan them properly, the advice from the video is to treat the sick, not to create something healthy from the start.

Okay, I think I know where I've been going wrong. I'm a complete beginner who hasn't drawn in like 15+ years, and after around 6 weeks of doodling and learning I jumped right into dynamic gesture drawing and always get stumped at the more complex poses. I'm definitely going to take this advice and start using the more static, less complex poses to build up on my skills first. Thanks Marc!

for some reason I cant make the layer under the shading appear. Helppppp
@mrhalfsaid1389Күн бұрын
I like to use different structuring methods for different characters and poses, like a big strong guy? Boxes. A more slim parkour runner? Circles. A complex pose? I'll probably try to work more off of a form line rather than a rigid mannequin to start off, then add structure things to help with proper proportions

Hey Marc, I installed your starter brushes pack but I have a problem, I added to them to gimp and they are not named, just numbered (like: MB_Starter_Pack_V7.abr-001, through 017), how do I know what each brush is for?

There certainly are color adjusment layers in krita. They are called filter layers and can be set up with a variety of adjustments, like HSL, Levels, Color Balance etc. Clipping masks are a bit different in Krita for sure, which requires some getting used to.

These advices tbh apply to everything, I will say the vision is the main one. Having a vision is fuel for your engine. If you don't have a clear one yet, it's ok. Interact with new things, old things, things, people etc. it will help you refine your vision maybe in ways that you didnd't expect and now you can't think of otherwise

8:23 I do Think that he should have said that too much detail. Does clutter up the design of the hair It can lose that sense of style that it had to it. But also, if you're intentioned for the design of the hair, it is to be very detailed, like some anime styles such as your lie In april then having that detail in their makes perfect but you have to make sure that you convey that intention when designing it.

i think a lot about this- I have all of the traits in the video, and ultimately, I usually get a lot of good feedback and I've always been told that i could make it as an artist. i also find it funny, though, because I have never considered art as a future career. I've used it to fill my time for as long as I can remember, but I've always wanted jobs completely unrelated to art. Maybe it'll wind out different than I expect it to. I'm only 16- i don't know my future yet, art might be something to chase as a career rather than just a hobby.
