Respectable score on everything but the CZ. You think it’s just that different than the others or is it more difficult to shoot well for some other reason?
@catpatchtactics3 күн бұрын
I’ve shot it pretty well in the past. I think honestly the grip geometry is just different enough from the other three guns that I was letting it shift around in my hand, as it’s a much more narrow grip.

[ (11 x 5) / 95.92 ] x 100 = 57.3 Good run, you had some really smooth reloads in there. Also, looks like a really nice range. How far does that go up the hill there?
@catpatchtacticsАй бұрын
The grassy area goes to 200 yards, which is the furthest you can hang paper. From the base of the hill up you have steel at like 300, 350, and finally 400 yards iirc. It's a great setup for general shooting. I felt pretty good about my reloads and positional changes, but I needed to really pick up the pace on my first shots from each position. That would have helped significantly.

True but if you’re on target that time to get back on after you move the gun could make the difference

a gunsmith at the local gun shop was taking a look at my 1942 colt 1911a1 because it has some interesting parts installed, see i bought it at another gun shop in the area for 300$ as it had ben polished and charcoal blued with fire blued small parts witch according to the clerk had rendered it practically worthless so i bought it lol. and it came with a shoe box that after some research turned out to be all its original gi internals, barrel bushing and a micro adj rear sight and 3 two tone mags. it was polished and fitted with a colt contract nm barrel and bushing, and as the gunsmith was disassembling it he noticed the trigger was a hand made one off custom made unit along with the fixed sights that had ben fitted.and after looking everything over he told me the work was top notch and probably done up by an aamu gunsmith for the national match at camp perry.. he told me that 300$ was like getting it for free almost and said ide have no problem making my money back by selling the 3 two tone mags it came with!. and he was correct! its interesting seeing all the details as you explain and show how that work is done now days..a full custom overhaul is not cheap at all! i got lucky!

Thanks for sharing all this,much appreciated as I've just fit my 1911 barrel. I've done several other types before, but this one was much more detail oriented in so many additional areas compared to other pistol designs. Definitely still comes in handy obviously to me today, as well as anyone else in need of the tips and tricks this or next century. The 1911 isn't going anywhere anytime ever, let alone soon. GOD bless America 🇺🇸 & thank you John Moses Browning.

@maddog.mcewan Жыл бұрын
Our Caspirs had a single MAG mounted on the co-driver/gunner side with two bicycle styled grips to rotate angle it and almost like a bike brake lever to fire the weapon... Koevoet went top gunners style with 50's, 30 Brownings sometimes mounted forward through the left front window... between the driver compartment and main troop compartment were the radio racks and bins with the open commanders hatch.. best spot to perch pre contact - and quick to drop inside if needed
@maddog.mcewan Жыл бұрын
I'm not a mechanic (tiffy) but one of my oddest memories whilst bundu bashing north of Oom Wille se pad in Sector 10 was one day the front axle of one of our Caspirs - i guess cv's or steering column??? failed and we drove the caspir back to a Koevoet camp with two caspirs on either side and someone on the front bumpers having to kick the front tires to make it change direction. Took a WHILE but we made it home
