Thanks! Hmm, I'm not sure, I guess it is just personal taste and style? I think for me making things a bit darker and warmer makes it feel a bit more nostalgic and dream-like, which is kind of what I would like to feel when I watch back these old travel videos in years to come

thank you Simon for this video! If I prefer documentary perspective family photography at home or events, indoors and often low light around 28-35 lens, would you find the q2 to be adequate and quickly focusing for those needs? My Canon r6 and L glass is a bit heavy and I like the minimal look of the Leica, especially longing for the q2m iso ability with little noise. Thank you for your thoughts!

The Leica Q2 is a dream camera. I really wanted one but the price was a bit too hefty for me, so I picked up a used Leica CL digital with a 24mp crop sensor which takes amazing photos. But I still would love to have a Q2 one day. Nice video. Manu

HI Renato, I read your comment. Now, I have a question… had you used it for travel photography? I’m asking because I have a trip coming up to Normandy and I’m trouble between two cameras, one with an interchangeable lens or just the q2… any inside tip would help. I just don’t want to miss any shot because I didn’t have the reach… thanks. Jro
@jusren
@jusren Жыл бұрын
@@jro440 Hi Jro, I did you use A7III for travel photography, I only had a Samyang 35mm 1.4 and that lens was huge and bulky (I later on went onto buying a Tamron 28-75mm and that was much better to use on a daily and for travel. The Q2 however is just fantastic for daily and travel use! It's got some weather proofing, it's compact, the lens is beautiful and sharp! I'd go with the Q2 because of it's scalability! The digital crop at full frame is great so you don't have to worry about quality of your photos when you use this feature! Q2 FTW! I hope this helps!
@ChrisSpiegl
@ChrisSpiegl 2 жыл бұрын
I feel this perspective. I have been looking at the Q2 for a few weeks now and thinking that it would be an incredible compliment to my Canon gear which also feels a bit "heavy" not just because of the weight (though that's also a point). The Q2 sounds like it would be a fun camera to keep around, half the weight of my R5C+Lens and less brain space (no lenses to change). Let's see if I can get my hands on one by the end of August - that's my goal right now.

Thanks Ron and Simon… it does help. Taking my sl2 with the 24-70 was a little bit heavy set for my trip to Normandy. But again my hesitation comes when I think about missing shots… I’ll have couple of trips before to try one and the other. Again, thanks to both.

Hi Simon. I’ve been on the fence for a Q2 on & off for over a year. I’m similar to yourself,a full time commercial & event photographer. Would you say the AF is accurate, but just slower than Canon Sony etc, or does it hunt a lot? And what are the colours like, both straight out of camera, and in Lightroom? Does it really have that different look, the so called Leica Pop? Thanks for your time. Simon
@SimonHird
@SimonHird 2 жыл бұрын
Hey! Yeah, I think the autofocus is accurate, it's just not as high-tech as the new Sony & Canon's etc with the eye-tracking AF. I've not really had a problem with the focus, but I am not super fussed about things being perfectly sharp particularly as this is just for personal use for me. I do love the look of the colours straight out of the camera and in lightroom. I think there definitely is a slight more contrasty feel with richer blacks on the Q2 but I think the character comes from the lenses to be honest rather than the sensor. I could be wrong there though, I'm no expert. When looking at photos taken on the Leica versus my Sony A7iv the Leica has a bit more character but the image quality is fairly similar it just comes in a much nicer package that is considerably smaller, more simplified and more enjoyable to use. Hope that helps!

I have a Q2 Mono -- I love bw photos and often turn my color into bw with lightroom in post -- so I bought the Q2 mono because of that and I do love it. The simplicity and size and quality is second to none. I travel a ton and am used to taking an A7RIII with tamron 28-75 lens to avoid carrying a choice of lenses and crop when I need since I can ride for 5-6 months a year on a motorcycle to the crappiest places on earth with little space. But unless I force myself, I am always stressed with only the 28mm lens choice and to some extent -- only having mono. I would be interested to see how you feel over time -- a shit ton of people use the Q2 for years and love it... I may pick up a Q3 when it comes out and see if its the color option that i miss. Have fun with your new toy -- it feels amazing and shoots great images for sure.
@SimonHird
@SimonHird 2 жыл бұрын
That’s really interesting to hear! I was kind of torn between the Q2 mono and the Q2, but decided to go with the colour option as I thought that would be something I’d miss. I think the crop mode function on the Q2 kind of makes it fine for me just being a fixed lens as I’m not printing the photos huge or anything like that. I generally take photos in the 24 to 50 mm range on my Sony A7IV, so I think I’m not missing that extra reach hugely. I can totally see why people would though! I used to use the A7Riii and a 24-70 all the time on personal trips and found that was super versatile for most situations for me. The set-up was just pretty huge so I ended up changing it up. Thanks for the comment! Really excited to use the camera more and I’m sure I’ll make some more videos on my thoughts on it!

I am not a commercial photographer, but a keen enthusiast. I love planning days out with my Nikon Z6 , multiple lenses, filters etc, but I have to say I find the Q2 so much fun to use. As you said it is relatively unobtrusive. Image quality is simply stunning. I did some street photography shooting from the hip and got fantastic results. Whilst I will not be ditching my Nikon kit the Q2 has become my grab and go camera … It is worth every penny of the substantial investment that I made in it.
