I know a lot people say Messiah is the 'only voice' of Candlemass, i think that might because of nostalgia for some people, but the fact is that he sounds 'not very serious' and sometimes 'cheesy', he has the 'Power Metal' attitude but being a Baritone and sounding moodier/ominous for Doom purposes, therefore even if Tony Martin has a pretty 'light' voice and Romantic Dio influenced style, he still sounds more 'serious' and 'raw' than Messiah here, it's simply a cold analysis, nothing to do with technique here, that's the reason why Robert Lowe is so praised, he has the serious 'Doom' attitude.

This is a really interesting version of the song. It shows how much of a difference the vocalist makes to a given song. Tony sounds great on this track. I wish this was available outside of that limited edition box set (along with the Johan version of Black Dwarf and …Gallows).

I will admit, I kind of prefer this version to the one on the album. Not that the album version is bad, but I love Tony's take on the lyrics, especially in the verses. I'm a big fan of the way his clear vocals contrast with those gigantic riffs.
