I play old Minecraft for the simplicity and atmosphere. Old Minecraft had this almost indescribably melancholy atmosphere that's somewhat reminiscent of Silent Hill of all games. The fog, pitch black darkness, and cave noises all felt like intentional decisions to cultivate a lonely, almost creepy feeling. I think the fog in particular made the world feel bigger and more mysterious even though the actual scope of the game is tiny in comparison to new Minecraft. Old Minecraft was also much more mechanically simple, it felt like the 21st century's version of playing with Lego bricks as a kid. New Minecraft just feels bloated and directionless in comparison. No hate to the devs, I'm sure they're doing their best but I don't think they truly understand what drew so many players to Minecraft in the first place.

I tried a shifting floor design in my world too. Items fall through because Block 36 (the technical block that normal blocks turn into while being pushed or pulled) have very odd collision. A 7x7 is the efficient size to have as that's the maximum area one bonemeal can affect. But as BoxBlair pointed out, dark room farms are by far the faster farm to have in Beta 1.7.3 (as evidenced by the infamous Back To Beta flower prank lol) Anyways, congratulations on 900 subscribers! (955 exactly at the time of commenting!)

I built a similar flower farm in my world too, that was before I learned you could make a 7x7 dark room and just bone meal the ground to collect tons of flowers and seeds. Would recommend that method if you didn’t know about it already. Congrats on 900subs too!

I really love the beta 1.7.3 series from many KZfaqrs, but I no longer like minecraft itself which they preferred to play, but their non-conformist approach to the community
