Taking the wheels off the car is an absolute must.. I painted my wheels many years ago and it was a breeze with the tires off the car

Great job, I've read horror stories about that type of Rust-oleum Paint not the paint so much but the cans spray nozzle leaking and dripping paint and sputtering out paint I love the color but don't want to risk making a mess and having to re-do all the hard work, honestly there are so many bad reviews of that style of paint cans nozzle no matter how much I like the color I wouldn't use it.

Dude. You should not refer to your paint job as proper. It's just one of the other 1000 where people don't take the tires off the wheels.

i can assure you neither lowes nor home depot has 'tape n trade' and using spray paint from either store is where you lost me. Maybe this application will work for a car which is always garaged and driven sparingly

Dude that's the exact color of paint I've been trying to achieve. I've used that same brands gunmetal grey but it was too light and a boring dull matte. That turned out basically like a dark/not too dark gunmetal color. I guess black stainless is the can I'm going with

What type and color of spray paint did you use?

This was not a durable solution, was it? What do the same wheels look like now, almost 5 years later? Why did you opt to spray paint instead of powder coat?

I might try this approach. I have a 2010 car and the wheels have some dings and rash. Will repair that, then paint. I've used this paint, but for non automotive use. I've seen other videos that used a TON of different products, and steps, and kind of pricey too. I don't need a show car finish, but I want it to look decent.
