when it comes to your edge beveler, what is the difference between DC53 and M390? and the price is different as well.

The carbon content of the materials is different. The hardness of dc53 is about 62-63HRC. The toughness is relatively good, but the wear resistance is relatively poor. The hardness of m390 is about 60-62HRC. It has high hardness but relatively poor toughness. The composition of m390 contains a large amount of molybdenum and chromium, so its production difficulty and cost are relatively high, so the price is much higher than that of dc53.

Did you punch through the leather? Pricking irons are not designed to penetrate the leather. Warranty would be void if that is what you used the pricking for.

@@kboleather The information on their website says that you can ‘punch’ up to 3mm of leather providing that the surface underneath the leather is soft, such as another piece of leather and you withdraw them from the leather perpendicularly. The leather I was punching was 2mm thick which should have been well within tolerance. I used a piece of veg tanned leather underneath the project. I have now gone back to using a cheap set of eBay diamond punching chisels, which give a good result and are far more robust. When I told Wuta about the problem they weren’t interested, which I found very disappointing after the money I invested in them. I have some very old pricking irons that have lasted many years without breaking and have been used in a similar manner.
