I've always had a mental block with gesso. I never really knew how to use it, other than prepping a canvas for oil paints (back in college). This opened up a whole new world for me. Also, you're a great teacher. I loved your organizing layers for presentation. Thank you ever so much for this tutorial!

What is a theocratic journal? It looks really interesting!
@lucyc8 күн бұрын
From an explanation in another comment I read, it's a journal with a religious theme, usually as a part of a person's personal religious study - like bible study, for example. They create art journal pages inspired by what they are currently reading/learning.

You're so creative!! I'm making a whole art journal with blank gesso'ed pages from a thick-paged, but shiny magazine.. It's heavy, tho, so I'm sanding the pages. It takes time bbut I find it repetitive and soothing. Plus, like you said , it gets me in the headspace. TY!
Thank you very much for your tutoring on gesso, as I hadn’t realized there were so many ways to use it. I appreciated you showing the demos rather than just “stating” how to use it! Visual learner. Newbie here 🇨🇦💕

I don't think I've ever seen a WT magazine gesso'd before. I usually toss them when finished. Me thinks you don't. I can only imagine what you do to the old bound volumes. Lol!!

Hello I just watched your video.I am new to mixed media I want to work with clear gesso.I want to put a layer of clear gesso first then use up my ceremcoat acrylic paint it’s waterbased paint.i don’t know how that would allow the paint to slide.i was going to dry the gesso then add the wet paint and smear it around.I don’t want the white gesso to make my paint like a white chalk look

I just ordered my first jar of gesso, and hope to have received it in about a week. I mostly stamp greeting cards, and am hoping to do some mixed media stuff, so am hoping to use the gesso for neat backgrounds. Love the textured details! [email protected] 5/14/19
