13:25 this would be the Grey knights drum and bugle core. Everyone knew them and loved them when they would play. After the parade they would march down to the fireman's grounds and put on a concert. Some local people in this group were my brother-in-law Tom Detwiler, Bud Speaker, Donnie McGonagal, Vince Caggiano, just to name a few. They were great guys and totally dedicated to music and putting on an outstanding show.

5:55 that would have been my late husband, Jim Detwiler, walking across the bridge in his white suit. He had just finished leading the Ridgway high School band up through the parade and now it shows him walking back towards the beginning so that he can March with grey knights drum and bugle core. I don't know how he ever marched twice in one parade because it was always so hot but he loved it! Great memories.

Thank you so so so much for this video.. I will be removing my own stent in a few days... All of your concerns and anxiety are exactly in line with mine... I wonder if there is a particular body position recommended?
@fo7277 күн бұрын
Not sure if there is a body position, but sitting on the commode worked for me, especially since I took my good old time creeping it out.

As all the other people previously stated here I cannot thank you enough. Your video really helped me get the courage to pull my own stent and I just did it five minutes ago and I cannot feel any more grateful. I'm bit nervous about a potential kidney stone event but I'm so happy I was able to pull it out. Thank you so much !!

I had this done a month ago and I had absolutely no pain with it. I too worried about it for a week. The nurse pulled it out in 2 seconds and it was totally painless.
@Robcadams1974Ай бұрын
I had one with a string removed before and it wasnt painful. What was painful, was after my first time urinating i had the worst pain from my kidney to my bladder and had to go to the ER. It was worse pain than the stone.

I had to do this last week, the anxiety by far was the worst part. No pain at all, yeah if felt strange but nothing to make you want to stop midway. Took all of 10 seconds if that. The discomfort from urinating with this in was 100x worse than the sensation of pulling it out. Just a mild tickle.

I just wanted to add my voice of thanks here, This video went a long way in helping me face what seemed to be an impossible challenge. One that hampered my healing--at least a bit--simply because i was so scared of what the experience might actually be. The fact that I faced doing it at all is in no small part down to you and this video. Now, to the people who are staring down this daunting task let me say this: **Save a portion of your pain meds for this "procedure". I saved 2 pills and they helped me relax as well as lessened any discomfort. **I also--and this is something I don't see posted many places--took an Advil (and over-the-counter anti-inflamatory medication) because I read a Canadian study that said this has shown to be helpful in the period after removal. (I had no issues after removal so I think this is a part of that) **I started slow when I first began the removal, like he did in the video, but that felt a bit uncomfortable--a bit of burning--so I sped up about tow times as fast and before I knew it the stent was out. Do not despair or fear this procedure! YOU CAN DO THIS! It is WAY less of a big deal than you are imagining in your mind. (I'm a baby, for the record, and I did it)

Thanks for this video. I watched it yesterday before I pulled it out and then pulled it out while taking a shower. Did it slowly, there was little pain and very little discomfort. I actually had 2 stents as my procedure was bilateral. So it was weird pulling out 2. Felt much better afterwards. However, a couple of hours later I thought I had a kidneystone event (maybe a remnant after the lithotripsy) it was painful for a few hours. According to my urologist it was a ureteral spasm which is not uncommon after pulling out a stent. I wish I had known about that. It went away and happened again for about 45 mins hours later.
@peterkratoska4524Ай бұрын
Also, a urologist prescribed a drug called flomax which is normally intended for people with lowblood pressure that have trouble peeing. It also helps those after a lithotripsy who may have similar trouble. I would definitely ask your Doctor if thats something for you.

for ladies - getting brazilian waxed before the procedure is a good thing I find, then at least the hair is out of the way of the string and the sticky tape. More hygenic option for JJ stent procedures😂😂

I hope you'll forgive me for coming back, but man, can I just say again how much I appreciate you for making this video? I never in a million years thought I'd be able to find a video about this specific topic from the point of view of a patient who had gone through it. Doctors, sure, but an actual human who was having the exact same fears as I was, and discussing strategies and how it felt, etc.? This kind of thing honestly makes me feel so much faith in humanity. When it comes down to it, you can find so many people out there trying to help one another for no other reason than just to be awesome. So thanks for being awesome!

I have one in right now. I 'm so scared to pull it out...really hoping this video will help though! Thanks for posting it either way. (My mom is a nurse so she CAN do it...but if I can work up the nerve to do it myself, I could avoid having to get up at 6am to have to drive to her house for that!)

I DID IT!!! Actually I had little choice; I was abruptly having constant incontinence and when I went to check the string, I instead found the tube already poking out. So I didn't even have to millimeter the string--I just grabbed and pulled before I could have second thoughts and BOOM! It's OUT OMG!!! EDIT: THank you so much for this video. Even if my stent hadn't already been on its way out, I was going to do it myself after watching this video. And this comment section was literally like therapy/support group for me lol...all those other people talking about being scared then coming back triumphant! <3 Thank you thank you for this video, made me feel much less scared/anxious/alone while facing this!

I was told I have a string and to pull it out today. BUT, I can’t find it. I don’t feel it. I don’t know what to do. I don’t like looking for it. I assume it is a black string. I read that the dr will tape it to your person, but haven’t come across that either. Dang. I called and was told it could be 24 to 48 hrs before my call is returned. That’s to long & it’s Friday.

I will never get a stent on. I will deal with the kidney stone some other way, but I will never deal with that. This is the worst thing they ever invented. They could’ve done better. They need to find another way to treat stones. This is not it.
@AuralayKristine2 ай бұрын
There are other ways like lithotripsy but sometimes the stone is too dense and/or big to pass on its own and in that case the stent is WAY better than letting it block the ureter. Been there, done that, worst pain of my life!!!!! The stent is really annoying and I'm anxious to pull mine out but I'd still take it over a stuck stone!!!
