I have lived in Denmark for 2 years and this year, I did my first tax assessment. Not only was it incredibly easy (you just log onto the government portal, look at the receipt, put in your deductions, in my case only for commute, and send it off), they also have a set payment date AND you get paid back with interest, which I think is the rate that you would also get for government bonds. It's amazing!

Huh, I guess my fifth grade science teacher was right. He talked about this exact same thing years ago when I was a kid, no one seemed to care but I was interested in what he had to say. He told us to always buy lab made diamonds, as they are cheaper and real diamonds are no different. They are the most commonly found gemstone, but are artificially produced low so prices are artificially high.

Honestly, for you to be this callous about it makes me doubt you’ll be happy anywhere. We were given plenty of notice before the paychecks stopped. I know not everyone feels the same way and that’s okay, but I have fond memories working there for over two years, leading a team of analysts, and I wish them nothing but the best.

At my last employer, my manager showed up halfway through my shift and just told me that my position was being eliminated effective immediately "Due to company restructuring" while I was processing invoices and bills from business partners. It's the way the US tax system is set up. If you enter valid information for dependents and other deductibles, you will end up having way way way too much tax withheld. The system is basically corrupt, but the IRS is not held to the same standards as we the peeple

The point of a 2 weeks notice is to maintain a good relationship with your previous employer so that if your new job sucks ass or if something happens down the line you can return to your previous employer. Its not about respect of being family or because it will be recipricated (it wont be), its doing yourself a favor by giving your future self more options and open doors
