Why do all these videos have some gay ass fucking music I know your pilots think so highly of yourself I was a first mate for 22 years on the boat until I wasn’t able to pass a physical and I never heard any fucking music like that playing on the boat

Back when I worked on the “Rivers” we only pushed fuel barges. Only 4 of them at a time, but they were larger barges than the dry cargo barges that it pushes now. That was a while back, 1975-76.

I wonder what the St. Louis Mississippi river level was on the day of this video? I'm guessing it was a very low level. When we would kayak down the Mississippi we would line up with the water tower on the Illinois side of the river. This would lead us to the top of the main trough of water flowing over the chain of rocks. If the river level was low enough then at the bottom there would be some huge standing waves that you would ride over. I'm not really sure what river level is too low for that route to be safe. At high river levels the river flattens out and the tongue is less distinct. On the Missouri side of the river there were said to be some very dangerous pour-overs that were keepers. People have drowned there. The safest approach was to portage on the Illinois side and walk down the gravel bar.

Wish I was introduced to the line haul side so I'd have some cool stories and experiences. But now I like going home everyday after my long days. Been decking with Inland the past eight years out of dupo Ill. / St. Louis. Can't see myself doing nothing else, I love it

I really enjoyed this video. As a young man who was raised along the Mississippi between Grand Tower and Chester the barge traffic brought back lots of memories. Also, you could not have picked a better waltz to be timed to the dual radar antennas making their sweeps. All of it was very enjoyable! Thanks.
