Hi Martyn. Helpful video. I’m battling pretty drastic PH swings at the minute. Morning time it’s around 7 / 7.5 and evening it’s up to 9. Seeing the fish flash and in the evening jumping out the surface of the water. Tried numerous things to stabilise it including increased maintenance and water changes, PH buffers, phosphate reducers and all have been ineffective. I am interested in trying the oyster shells as a remedy, however I have a pressure filter so there is no room to put any additional media in there. Can the oyster shells be bagged up and just put into the main part of the pond rather than in the filtration system?

Yes you can bag them and put in pond but sped out surface area wise with it and a flow of water across them. Crushed shell is better and watch out that you don't get conned and its real oyster shell not just any old shell

Ive not seen media covers like that before. Mine are the ones are the 3 separate covers. Your would be better for mechanical filtration i think ? great water clarity !

They compress and hold the k1 down stop it rising and work well but you have to take pod apart every three months or so and give the k1 a real good clean as it get's very messy in thhe bottom and a boil clean dont get it out. so the top flap covers are much easer to use so i have them on the pods now.

Good to hear on the Oase. The Uv swapped over ok hear and the one that came out has blown ballast so i can fix that one ready for next time have a good weekend

I swapped out a cheaper UV I’d had for years (Superfish?) for a 30w Evolution Aqua job and it’s great, changed the tube yesterday after its first year, done in five minutes and don’t even have to turn the pump off to do it. They do a 55w twin tube one as well…

Have found this on so many things today it's made disposable to last so long and that's it as you say buy a new one as you cant get take it apart or get the bit's to fix it. Have a good weekend

I fitted the second UV turned it on for 5 min then off its working so good for now the pond has been 5 weeks without a working UV and waters still good so will give it some more weeks so if I can get away without it turned on its not gone green is down to the crap summer we have had I think so little sunshine down hear

Hi Martyn, Good to see you back mate. I've just bought a new Evolution Aqua 25w UV, not fitted yet though. My last EA 30w UV lasted about 5 years, and then I sold it when I built my RDF, and it's still going strong I think. Have a great weekend mate, Terry.

Love the laser cutting looks fab quality can you do any bonsai trees or art work green /brown everything seems to be black/red & white? Great stuff and looks great quality . Koi are really coming on you can see how they have pi;led on the pounds too.

You will have a hard time doing it without a battery between the panels a system inverters wont like the up and down wattage from the panels

@@boxtriker the garden runs on mains just trying to bring running costs down i might just get 2 12v leisure batterys but if i remenber rightly ur shed solar for the pond does tjat run along side your mains power

You can run grid tie with a micro inverter and just plug it in by way of a 13 Amp plug. But its meant to all be setup by a proper sparky with the right paper work to do it. It needs the sending in of a g98 or g99 application i was lucky and have a mate in the trade

That Moss is a nightmare. My pond suffers with it. I don't get much in the way of blanket weed but Moss Grrrrrr. My channel makes very little in terms of money. I suppose it works out about £12 - £15 a month and as they dont pay out until you reach £60 I don't get any money from it for 5 months at a time. If I was only doing it for the money then I wouldn't bother. Still it pays for one tub of food at a time. As they say every little helps.

Have no problem with the moss but would not want it in the pond you will not get rich off the youtube channel till you get 100k and up on the sub's but as you say it pays for some bit's and bob's but like Wrighty I'm thinking about stopping the ad's I'm lucky if each video makes me 2 or 3 pound with the view count i get but it is a good place to plug the Koi plaque sales stuff that I make sell. That said if you fancy a channel plaque or KZfaq/subscriber to boost your channel i do some good deals for youtubers

Sorry What seal mate she sit's on a 3 inch pipe with a ring i cut from plastic on the laser taking it down from the 4 inch neck. if you mean the rubbers round the screen top and bottom they came with it i have replaced the screen mesh with a 70 micron down from the 150 they come with thats an easy job but you do need to Tig spot the screen in place so it is pulled tight around the basket or it will get sucked in and catch the arm as it spins and it will need a power wash every two or three weeks as the backwash cant handle that fine mesh and clog's if left to long.

Pond running Mate its a cost a lot of people don't look to hard at that's the first saving getting the amount of power you use down eco pumps and Uv light on only when is needed and so on a 55w uv costs 32p a day it soon mounts up. Have a good weekend

To run a pond 24/ 7 all year round off solar you need about 2500w to 3000w of panels on a hybrid inverter with 400amp hour of battery's at 12v or up to100amp hour at 48v. there are lots of videos on off grid systems on hear have a good look over them. Have a good weekend

Do like that solar will you connect the pond to it or keep that on the system you now have I get my pension now and pay more tax on it than when I was working.

Will keep the pond running as a system all by its self. The house has now been running 8 days no power taken off the grid in that time. Battery's at this time are at about 92% today the highest they have been in the 8 days no power exported in that time so the only cost has been the standing charge. and as the days get longer i will make more than i need so i can export at 15p a Kwh and cover the cost of that as well
