0:56 Imagine you go to a car dealership and the car options are cane sugar, brown sugar, molasses, granulated sugar, the cane sugar car has everything it needs to drive and operate an engine, tires, rims. If you bought that car today you would be able to drive it off the lot and it would not require anything from you in order to operate properly, I put the cars (sugar) in order from best to worst to use in the garden when you work your way all the way down to granulated sugar there are key elements taken out between each process of making sugar so yes granulated sugar may be cheaper however you’re going to need to buy an engine rims and tires in order to make it drive and operate. The same concept applies in your very own garden not only with sugar but with salt as well as water they all three apply in their common misconceptions of whether or not they’re good or bad. Getting a water sample test and then speaking with the water specialist to get specific filtration is the best Aro and distilled both have the capability of taking from the system salt is often not at all thought to be able to be used in the garden however all life started in the ocean Celtic sea salt and or actual sea salt contains everything on the periodic table which means in the right dosages You can effectively add every major in micro nutrient to your soil system. The same thing applies for a human bodies for all three and the garden.

Thank you for sharing your hard work. Out of all those crosses, did you keep track of their weight to see which cross produced the largest or heaviest offspring? Thank you in advance.
@SayWhyChickenThigh
@SayWhyChickenThigh 9 ай бұрын
Thanks for asking! That's easy to answer since the heaviest birds are always offspring from my Maran /Easter Egger cross rooster and any of the full sized laying hens. The olive egg layers' offspring grow up to be the largest, followed by the Welsummer hen's offspring. The Easter Egger crosses, or blue egg laying hens, have typically the smallest offspring. I have a video showing the weight of a dual purpose breed harvested at 5 months compared to the weight of a Cornish cross harvested at 8 weeks if you're interested at seeing how these crosses measure up for meat kzfaq.info/get/bejne/frKHlNaJr7G2XYU.htmlsi=C7FibvnJpGhXNp3n

@SayWhyChickenThigh
@SayWhyChickenThigh 9 ай бұрын
Yes, the round egg theory is not accurate, as you can see in this video and countless others on KZfaq. Our success may have been achieved by altering the temperature of the eggs during storage and incubation to help terminate male embryos during incubation. This created a lower than average hatch rate, but a higher percentage of hen to rooster chicks. You can see the final results here and hear our opinion of how this experimental hatch compared to other hatches we've done. Thanks! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/idemeZqg0pi8m2g.htmlsi=OMI2Hbka4WVXbMkh

That's a great idea! Thanks for sharing. Do you find it accurate with your unique cross breeds?
@johannabennion
@johannabennion 10 ай бұрын
You have to start with the original pure bred lines to make sure you are accounting for hidden genetics. Then you can use the offspring from the original breeds to breed with other breeds or breeds you created. It’s as accurate as the information you input. It took me a while of playing with it to figure out how to work it. But I’m getting better at it. The inputs can be extremely detailed. Although the images are subpar to what the chicken actually looks like. It doesn’t account for size, comb types, feathered legs, or shape. Just the feather coloring and patterns. It would be amazing if it could do everything.

Aw, she sounds like a true barnyard mutt and likely very cute! I've had a black copper maran/Cochin rooster and a barred rock hen who have hatchlings that sometimes have feathered feet. Right now I have three roosters from these parents and they all look identical, a grey color with a barred pattern, and 1 of the 2 also has feathered feet. I'll need to make a video showing them! Lots of luck with your new girls. They sound beautiful.

I have been doing dry hatching for the last 2 years and found that it is not necessary to add water/up humidity at all on day 18. As soon as the first chick hatches, the humidity will start to rise. It usually levels off around 60-70% once the chick is out of the shell. It will stay around there or even go a bit higher if you have many zipping/hatching at once.

My roosters make it to the freezer.
@SayWhyChickenThigh
@SayWhyChickenThigh Жыл бұрын
Yes, me too. I recently bought a new meat grinder and it has been game changing for my chicken freezer stash. Most of the time I don't get more than 2 pounds off a roo, but I'm processing them around 6-8 months. They're egg layer crosses, after all, so nothing like the 8 pound 8 week old Cornish cross I raise! May I ask, how long do you grow out your roosters to make it more cost effective to keep them for meat?
@petermccool9396

@@SayWhyChickenThigh I have 1 hen, local Bulik breed not yet laying, 2 RiR chics gender neutral at the moment and 2 other chics which I think are local Kabir of which 1 is definitely a cockrell. I'm hoping for 3 RiR hatching on Monday. I have a kind off mixed batch. I would need to research again on the rooster as I did watch a few videos on that. I'm guessing till the rooster stops growing or becomes a nuisance. That's a good idea to grind the meat and save freezer space. I am not fussed too much on the cost savings. I want good eggs and good meat. I live in SE Asia and I've been to an egg farm which was really shocking the conditions of the hens. Not to mention all the antibiotics they get fed. My chics get to roam around and I'm learning to harvest BSF.

That's awesome, and very honorable that you are raising your birds in respectable conditions with lots of open space! You may like to see how we raise both Cornish Cross (also called "meat birds" here in USA) and the dual purpose layer breeds chickens. It's possible to raise Cornish Cross on pasture and free range them just like egg layer types, and this video explains how we can separate the two types of birds to give the meat birds higher protein feed to bulk up while also allowing them free spaces to roam. Here's the link: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/frKHlNaJr7G2XYU.html Lots of luck growing your poultry farm!

What temp is your oven set too? I'm, on my 4th batch, was looking at 4/9 possible results. I've had my incubator, home made, set at 37-39C. Chics having hard time due to membrane dried out. My controller quit working and the temp dropped to 31.4 overnight. Replacing the controller and letting the temp settle to around 36.5-37.5, of the 4 eggs, 3 look viable. In the first week of a chics life, temp should be 35deg. I'm planning to drop the temp to 34-35 on day 21 and see if they 1. are still alive, 2. get free easier.
@SayWhyChickenThigh
@SayWhyChickenThigh Жыл бұрын
Kudos to building your own incubator! Sounds like you have a plan to help increase the hatch rate next time now that you have a new controller. In my experience, when the chicks have a hard time making it out due to a leathery membrane, it is due to low humidity. Placing a wet, clean sponge in your incubator on day 20 can help boost your humidity right at the critical time of the first pip. Then the air rushing into the shell will be moist and hopefully will help the membrane from getting stiff and leathery. If you have a hygrometer, maintain it between 65%-80% for the duration of the hatch. Even if you're doing the dry method incubation for days 0-18 the humidity will still need to be boosted for hatching. If you're able to, adjust the humidity without opening the lid or causing drafts of cold air. My incubator uses Fahrenheit temp increments of half a degree. Days 0-18 are kept between 99.5*F - 100.5*F, or 37.5*C - 38*C. Hatch days are kept at 98*F, or 36.5*C. I hope you have 4 or more cheeping chicks! Thanks for checking out the video!

@SayWhyChickenThigh
@SayWhyChickenThigh Жыл бұрын
Yes! I've used it on russet, white, and gold varieties of potato plants and they thrive! I usually don't spray the fertilizer, but use a ladle to pour about a cup of the prepared fertilizer onto the base of the plants to be absorbed into the soil. It absorbs and works best in moist soil, and so you may have to spray your soil down first with water and then apply the fertilizer. Best of luck to your potato plants!
