Help me to understand martial math. If we have an attacker"s fist as point A and the point he wants to hit as point B then the shortest and therefore fastest way to hit is the straight line. Ancient greeks told me this secret. But I don't see any straight punches in aikido and thus no defences against. Could you please show me defences against simple straight kicks and punches?

Attacking or grabbing Saito sensei was like grabbing a small house that was about to move. Part of me was always laughing at myself and I was thinking "Why am I doing this." I learned so much. Thanks sensei.

THis is not Ueshiba Morihei s ikkyo. It is strange to see that people don t see the difference. Maybe it is pedagocic form, but absolutely, not Ueshiba s way.

You r absolutely right. There is a youtube compilation of Morihei doing Ikkyo, you can see clearly Morihei his Ikkyo goes straight to the ground, there is no stop at the knee. Besides that, i think its always hilarious to see "masterclasses" of topnotch Aikido masters explaing how to avoid the most basic mistakes in basic techniques. It is like amateur writers going to a Masterclass of a famous writer, and this Nobel Prize winning author fills his class with "the plural of foot is not foots but feet!" kinda tips. Saito's whole "don't push because partner will go away or turn around" its really 6th or 5th kyu material.

RIP Saito Sensei. I trained under this great man in New Zealand, Australia and Japan where he guided me through my 1st dan at the Iwama dojo. I remember with great fondness raking the jinja of O Sensei, the compulsory parties and of course the training, which was hard but lighthearted. It always gave me a sense of peace and joy.

A humble man, a simple man, a true master. Ueshiba O Sensei named him "Morihiro" the guardian of Aikido. No one else was so close to the founder in his hardest post war poverty-striken moments as Saito Sensei. He took care of the founder until practically his last days with no rest. Not a bit of thanks from the Ueshiba family for Saito Sensei and his wife, on the contrary, the "Aiki corporation" called "Aikikai" which tries to turn Aikido into a trademark with their McDojos at the forefront, has tried to erase Master Saito from history with all their might, wich is a true real shame. Long life for the true Aikido and the Saito family.

Ikkyo must be useful without any "but" in base variant. Don't belive that technique will be more difficult and will become more useful. It is not truth. Sensei must have a map-list "How does it work" in base or advanced variant anyway. I think I have found something and schema works but I need more "laboratory experements" with method "to teach how". We all can make ikkyo form but If you have doubt of usefulity of your ikkyo I want to see it and try to correct according to my schema and you will give me your impressions about it. P/S The form of ikkyo had no changed but I have several invisible detailes.
