Nice tones from the 491T in this MM 'V'. Not rosewood I think but torrified/baked maple fretboard.
@javimiami928 күн бұрын
They actually only used the 491T's on the SG and Les Paul models. On the Flying V and Explorer models, the cheaped out and used Duncan Designed pickups, which are made in Korea. Neat guitars though.

I have the hi flier 1 and the 3. Modified the 1 with a custom bridge humbucker. And it's really a monster. But the switches are easy to hit. The 3 has a toggle much easier to manage but has the dual humbuckers. They both sound awesome. Older than I am and look brand new. I play them through a Fender 72 twin with a Russin muff it is awesome.

I own that exact guitar and I absolutely love it. Had it for 6 years or so and it never lets me down. You should've played more with the wiggle stick, if you really get on it, it'll get some wild sounds. And the control location is perfect! I'd honestly give this guitar a solid 9.5/10. Its one that will never leave my collection.

After more than 2 years of abstinence, I went to the Music Station again and played 3 Fender American Professional II Strats, and again I noticed that the woods had little vibrancy, the maple necks were not very dense and responsive, there was little twang, little crunch , wiry-glassy, few overtones, sustain, attack, everything you associate with Fender guitars, everything is less than on my ESP 400 Series Strats and less than on my BLADE Texas models. This can be tested objectively and I can only say that I am extremely disappointed with this price-performance ratio. No, I can no longer objectively understand this adulation regarding Fender Strats. My first Stratocaster was a Fender American Standard Stratocaster and that was my worst guitar of all, a Fender Mexico Standard followed after that, but after I played the ESPs and the BLADEs everything was clear to me, and that proves itself again, every time, when I compare, the same result always comes out - what else can I say, it is true! The ESP-400-Series Strats and the BLADEs have objectively, noticeably and audibly better tonewood, the BLADEs even have a flattened neck-body-joint and covered fret slots and therefore much better playability!!! So, I'm done with Fender, I'm playing something clever, and at a much cheaper price. I don't want to talk anyone out of their love of Fender, I have nothing against you buying the (usually) worse guitars for a far too exorbitant price, you're welcome to do that. Then there will be more BLADEs for me, very simple!

I own the sunburst one,and now is very difficult to me to play the Les Paul or Stratocaster instead. This 2017 was very underrated but it worth the price point considering is US made

Thank you for covering this, i forgot these even existed. Its such an ugly guitar in my opinion. However, i actually like the mods. Weird, i know.
@guitarsmithtv3 ай бұрын
Yeah it looks like it is melted like a Salvador Dali clock! Some of the mods are good but the neck pocket hack is too wild for my taste. I rarely play anything on the 22nd fret. I can't imagine what the previous owner played up there so much that that had to hack a big chunk out of the guitar for it!

Stunning guitar, I remember wanting one of these SO badly when I was a teenager and Kurt was my hero. I had a Fender Squier strat and it just didn’t sound right for ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ - the only song I could play at the time 😂
@guitarsmithtv3 ай бұрын
Yeah it was and still is a dream guitar for a lot of people. I was lucky enough to have an Aunt in Canada who found one over there and we had it shipped over in the late 90's to the UK. I still have it!

@melvins19923 ай бұрын
He'd sure be getting the raw end of that deal, a univox hi-flier pickup is worth a good bit more than $40. There's plenty of decent pickups out there for your budget but you're going to have to pony up around triple that for an actual univox pickup.

Actually no - I used to own this guitar! The bridge pickup is an old german Schaller one, and it can be splitted by pulling the volume pot. The neck pickup is an old Bartolini. I did NOT do the other hack job mods, it already had those before. Cheers!
