Given that “volatility” is another word for “move” and that “implied” means “expected”, it’s not quite a shocker that IV is what defines expected move, now, is it? 👀

6:56 I don't get it. How would the trade give you 23 cents for a point of risk if its basically around 70% pop (if you are reffering to 54-53 spread). It should be at least 80% pop. Why spreads paying so low even in high vol?

I bought GME on the Monday is popped in 2021. I sold the same day and doubled my money at $42 a share. This isn't 2021 anymore and people aren't as surprised now. Plus hedge fund managers aren't as like to have large positions in companies with extremely high short interests. This happened the first time because it was the first time. It's basically over and reversion to the mean is happening.

Investing in the stock market has HISTORICALLY provided higher returns than other forms of investment. According to Morningstar, the average annual return for the S&P 500 index, which measures the performance of 500 large-cap stocks, was approximately 10% from 1926 to 2020.

The best course of action if you lack market knowledge is to ask a consultant or investing coach for guidance or assistance. Speaking with a consultant helped me stay afloat in the market and grow my portfolio to about 65% since January, even though I know it sounds obvious or generic. I believe that is the most effective way to enter the business at the moment.

As new trader I am not sure the expected move is all that useful in general, but most useful for a play earnings. Often the move will be reaching the next support or resistance level SMA. ADX will indicate that strength. Probability projection helps if the intention is to put on a spread with range bias.

A different way to view this is 1. For your preferred DTE the last term is a constant: e.g. for 45 days- Root 45/365 = 0.351, 39d = 0.327, 52d = o.377, not much variation. 2. Determine Expected Move (EM) as a percentage of the share price (SP). = 100 x IV x 0.351 ~ 35 x IV , with EM in units of % of current SP. This can now be quickly approximated in one's head.

This isn't really an apples to apples comparison... The VIX is measuring an annualized volatility for the duration and is a percentage measure on it's own so its looking at a percent of a percent while stock price is looking at essentially whole dollar moves. If you want to compare apples to apples it should be SPY price with SPY ATM IV or even looking at tail IV

2 identifiable causes. recently installed computer systems were designed to run a network of "auto-sell clients", which triggered an massive avalanche of sell orders run by computers, "a computerized panic sell-off". another issue was, believe it or not, is the ease of credit, how, people borrow the easy credit to ride the wave of stock price hikes, unaware that these "bubble market behaviors" always end in a "mystical" cataclysmic crash. -freshly installed maladjusted computer software network -yet again, the ease of credit, using credit-line to finance stock bubbles, that obviously burst every now and then it appears to be that America will continue to suffer from these periodic tragedies, unless stricter lending criteria will apply across the board. predatory lending, is a systemic disease that has been ravaging the American economy for over a century now. it is nearly responsible for every major economic crash in the last century, including the famous 1930s great depression. it is a systemic poison. ruining livelihoods tens of millions of Americans, every decade or so. predatory lending is also one of the leading causes in hyper-inflation, over-speculation and systemic bank failures.

Ok, wtf was that. I'm sorry but this was literally the most useless video I've ever seen (ok maybe not literally) Nothing was said at all. For anyone watching this video and reading the comments, if you're under 25k stick to 10% of acct MAX per trade. The risk/reward is upto you. E.g.. Say you have a 25k acct (margin or not) don't put more than 10% in ANY TRADE. Which would equal 2,500. Same goes for any accounts 25-200k. Once over 200k you size differently. (But that's not a subject for now) Risk management is key. Is it hard starting out with 2k? Yes. Even tho they [finally] changed equities to t+1 (which should actually be instant, it's 2024 not 1924. My money is instantly taken when I take a trade, yet have to wait til tomorrow (or before May of this year had to wait 2 business days from sell date. The reason is obvious why they do this) Anyway, back to the point, 2k acct can be turned into a lot more. Use cash acct and learn about options. Or trade the equity T/G's Either way, if you're new to this, go small.
