@cesardavis8700 17 күн бұрын
Thank you for the comment. You make an interesting observation, but they actually feel very different in hand. The Kitzconcept feels fragile, and is quite brittle around the areas where die-cast meets ABS plastic. It is also smaller in comparison with the Threezero. The Kitzconcept is 1/72 scale versus 1/60, give or take, for Threezero. The transformation is also quite fiddly when manipulating, where the Threezero had the benefit of seeing and handling all the preceeding offerings from other manufacturers. I'm positive they took the best, and improved on most of the competition's shortcomings. In short, the Threezero is the superior product. If you can still find it for a good price, you won't regret it. Hope that helps. By the way, when the Threezero VF-1S is released I'll do a huge comparison video. I will also rank all of the commercially produced Roy Focker Valkyries. Thanks again, and happy collecting!!

@cesardavis8700

Thank you for the kind comment. Regarding the white paint on the VF-1J, it honestly looks like there is paint on most of the visible areas. I wish I could be more precise for you, but Threezero applies a clear matte/satin finish to the model. This finish really makes it look like there's paint on the surface. If you've built Gundam kits and sprayed a matte clear coat on bare plastic, you'll know what I mean. Regardless, this Threezero has a very clean and polished finish, along with sharp tampographics and printing. It all comes together to give you the best finish out of all the readily available products. Thanks again, and happy collecting!

As someone who only got into Macross relatively recently, I have been looking for a good Valkyrie (or Veritech) figure. The only thing that is keeping me from pulling the trigger on buying the Three Zero version is if it is possible to have the robot mode without the gap fillers? I've heard mixed responses to this question.
@cesardavis8700
@cesardavis8700 21 күн бұрын
Thanks for the post. The short answer is yes. You can have it in Battroid mode without the gap fillers, and it will hold just fine. The real question is why would you not use the filler? It really helps to finish the look, plus they're already included with the package. It's just another option for you, and options are a good thing in this case. Threezero put just as much attention to the accessories, as the main figure. Come to the dark side, young padawan. You'll appreciate the whole package! Thanks again, and happy collecting!!

@@cesardavis8700 Thank you for the response. I'm kind of a klutz so for a figure as pricey as this (still a great value compared to other similar figures, but still relatively expensive) I would be paranoid of losing pieces especially if they are integral to the transformation (same reason why I probably won't get the Bandai HG Macross kits). So if the gap fillers aren't necessary, for my own peace of mind, I would probably keep them in the box and only pull them out for photography or the odd stop motion. I mean, looking at the original Takatoku figure I personally don't mind the gap, and I imagine the Three Zero figure's gap would look similar if not better.
@cesardavis8700
@cesardavis8700 20 күн бұрын
You bring up excellent points that I failed to consider. In terms of the gap, the Threezero, like the Bandai DX, has a wider side profile in the upper torso. This makes it more visually disruptive. You can look at the Bandai DX in the video and see what it looks like without the fillers in place. The Takatoku has a considerably slimmer profile, and is not as distasteful. I think we, as collectors, also tend to look at vintage figures through very nostalgic lenses, if you know what I mean. Regardless of my rambling, that option is there for your choosing with the Threezero. Hope this helps your decision. Thanks again.

@@PavelQuijanoOno the plastic is definitely ABS. So far it's held up extremely well, and most importantly does not feel brittle when handling. I'm not sure about the comparison between Bandai/Arcadia because I feel that Bandai uses better materials than most other manufacturers. I personally haven't had any problems with the Bandai DX line, where the Yamato/Arcadia pieces have had cracking, breaking, and yellowing. If I where to rank all the manufacturers of Robotech/Macross mecha presently, Bandai and Threezero would be top two. Anime accuracy is most important to me so it's basically a toss up if which is more acceptable: GX-71, which has the correct belt details but has the lion paws inacurrately exposed in robot mode or the Threezero which accurately portrays the lion paws nicely hidden but has an inaccurately painted belt.

Thanks for the comment. I think you're only partially right, Andrew Dinsmoor. A modern take on the Popy was definitely in order, but they refined the look and proportions of the gestalt always referring to the animation model. I say that because it's vaguely referenced in the included manual. I also think that the features and articulation, again were engineered with the animation look in mind. That's not to say they were aiming for an animation correct facsimile, but you can't deny that inspiration was derived from it, as well as the original Popy. Thanks for the post, Oliver. I would like to agree with you, but I feel that we must first set a precedent for what we're referring to when we say, "best proportions and accuracy in sculpt." As for the animation model, I would say that the Mattel SDCC Blazing Sword Voltron action figure has all other versions beat by a mile. I've put this version against stills from the show, and it's uncanny in how well it mirrors the hand-drawn image. I realize it's not an actual combiner, but given the current technology and resources, it should not be an excuse. Especially when companies like Takara, are making animation model-precise masterpiece figures that can articulate, transform, and combine. Now, if the original Popy/Bandai model is what we're referring to, then I would have to go with the Soul of Chogokin, GX-71 for best head sculpt and general proportions. You have to give kudos to Bandai for really being the first to incorporate all aspects to put into their Voltron design. Threezero definitely has more elegant proportions in regards to an ideal human standard of beauty, but the head sculpt is really soft. It doesn't fulfill what I would consider a good representation of the animation model, or an accurate depiction of the first Voltron toy. Let's hope other viewers chime in with their opinions. Thanks for the topic of discussion, Oliver. Have a wonderful day, and happy collecting, brother.

@@cesardavis8700 Thanks for the reply. In comparison to the Bandai Soul of Chagokin (of which I have two) and even the Blitzway. The Three Zero seems to be the best proportioned to me. It slowly dawned on me that with the Bandai blue and yellow lions, they come up too high on the legs, making them look like thigh high boots lol. The other small gripe I have is the black Lions head looks like a cap when Voltron is formed. It’s a little too bulky at the top. The Blitzway is gorgeous but the body is too lanky somehow. Regarding the faces. The Three Zero face seems more feminine (soft) but very anime accurate. I mean in anime all the characters, even the men are pretty so it works. The red stripe on his pelvis is odd though, I’ve never seen it portrayed that way and wonder why they went that route? I’m sure in a couple of year we will have some other iteration 1 upping these and we will adjust our opinions accordingly as we complain about space lol. Either way, I’m glad we have so many to pick from and able to add to our collections. I just discovered the Shogun Warrior line from Toynami and they are stunning… and ridiculously expensive. Anyway, great video and keep up the passion!

I had an issue with my Robo-Dou Tekkaman Blade and their Customer Service is really good. They got back to me fast and helped me to sort it out fast too! The only downside is you have to send them back the item (not all of them) and have to wait quite a bit so they can fix it. (shipping back to you is covered by them) At least better than King Arts, with no Customer Service whatsoever, and Sentinel sloppy CS isn't good either. All three companies are from HK, so, Threezero does a better job catering to their customers.

Thanks. I can't say anything bad about Threezero's customer service. They've acknowledged the issue and offered to repair any damages. The only complaint I do have is that shipping to Hong Kong is unfortunately pricey at the moment, so I'll just buy another Voltron instead. I'll keep this one to play around with.

Did you try to contact ThreeZero about the issue? I received mine around the same time as you did, but only opened it yesterday and unfortunately my copy has the same issue. Such a beautiful figure, there are definitely diecast parts too, the leg lions got some weight to them. May not be as hefty as the SOC but it feels premium, unlike what some folks have been saying.

Sorry for the late reply, MagnaDefender. I did contact Threezero, and their response was that I could do one of two things. One is ship the malfunctioning pieces of the toy back to them, and they would repair and ship back to me in about 2-3 months. The other option they replied with like two weeks after their original response, was that they would ship the parts to repair the issue when they are available. I would then take it upon myself to repair it. Either way, I purchased another copy, which hopefully doesn't have the same problem. BTW, make sure to do the warranty on their website, or they won't cover any repairs/replacements. I agree with you in that it's a beautiful rendition. Best of luck, and happy collecting!

Blitzway is in another category and reason for the higher price tag. Can't compare ThreeZero or Bandai to it. Blitzway Voltron is the best figure we ever got of Voltron by far.

Nice review! I’m glad you were able to make your copy more usable. The Robo-Dou is a great looking figure. Hopefully they can get the issues sorted out. I just don’t have the space for any more large Voltrons…but I’d consider the Robo-Dou for its posability. It can do some stuff the SOC just can’t. I like how heavy the SOC is, but the weight does work against it some when posing.
