Beautiful Music from West Africa that makes me dream and eases my pains. RIP Maestro Diabaté, thank you so much for your Art, I am truly blessed to have discovered your works on Kora. I strongly recommend this album, it blew my mind and still does it, like a splash of lustral waters that caresses one's soul. Now you have become a star on heaven above. Much Love and Appreciation from Uruguay, South America.

THERE'S NO TUNE OR MELODY JUST PUCKING STRINGS AT RANDOM. NOT GOOD AT ALL.
@coulibalyolivier83295 ай бұрын
Maybe you don't know about mandingue music, or you are not used to pentatonic scale. You will understand their mastery if you know about improvisation in blues and jazz. It is not about abiding by the "rules" of the "european classical music", but it is about making music, and there is a message that is conveyed by the way it is played. They don't take strings at random. Those people are DJELI, and they play this instrument from their childhood, from father to son for more than 700 years. This is GREAT MUSIC

OBSERVATIONS ABOUT THE RECORDING... (!) IMPORTANT: Do listen this video demo WITH CIRCUMAURAL HEADPHONES due to Earbuds and computer Speakers will kill the bass range sound making the koras sound too equal, with no differences between them. The 'KMH Resonance' model in all its octaves results with a nicer sound both in volume and depth (and feedback too), especially in the bass. Notice that it is a quite small calabash (35 cm tall) while the rest are 41 cm ("Skin free") and 44 cm the Traditional acoustic body. The 'KMH Free Skin' model works nicely in the upper and middle octaves while it loses depth in the bass (*) and finally it is the model that undoubtedly produces a more powerful sound. (*) This particular kora had to be reinforced because one wood of the board had become particularly elastic and bent too much under pressure. The reinforcement resulted in a more rigid resonance board (less desirable) and therefore affected the sound of the low octave. In a previous wooden built kora the low octave was sounding very nice, so I hope it will be like this in future constructions again (I will be recording new demos for it). My apologies due to the Traditional acoustic body kora (African original built kora) sounds distorted due to a machine peg being slightly loose and vibrating. I did not repeat the whole recording since it is just a simple general comparison to have a rough idea.
