2024 here. Fyi, you do NOT need to remove the matte film on the moniter. Polerizers on ALL lcd moniters have a 60% dark tint to them. the super clear see through in the video is the lcd showing pure white. that's why its see through.

You're correct. The film I removed from mine was anti glare material. You should always check to make sure it's anti glare or you'll pull a JayzTwoCents and remove the polarizer by accident (or was it?)

Awesome vid helped me clean the dust out of my Wii U and polish the housing shell up. Only issue I ran into was my screwdriver was too fat to reach the screws under the disc drive. I found if you unscrew the four little black screws on the side of the disc drive you can take it off the brackets, and then go and get the four bracket pieces off without it in the way.

I prefer the original NES front loader control deck console hardware. In fact, the NES front loader control deck console, the NES controller, the Zapper light gun, the NES Advantage arcade joystick controller, and the NES Satellite all the has same color scheme matching the colors and the shape of the NES.

I’m not trying to come down on you man, I mean hell you are doing more then most of us modders BUT….no dialog for these things are BAD NEWS, you have people watching these and will try it and will break their console, people DO NOT DO THIS!!! Man you soldiered without flux? Didn’t show what points you soldiered the OTG after you spliced it. Guy just don’t. Not a bad “look what I did and you can do” video but 100% for people that already do this kinda work. If I were you I’d say “do not try this unless you are experienced” because you know someone will do this and brick their Wii -u and blame you.

The rosin core solder I use contains flux. Otherwise the solder wouldn't flow at all. I didn't include the pinout for USB because people can Google that. All mods come with some inherent risk, I didn't know I had to say that.

No you need to remove the side panels to get to the screws that hold the front face.

@@ImmodderNation there's a page on GBA Temp "How To: Upgrading / Rebuilding Wii U Internal Memory (MLC)." There's a mod to disconnect the SATA disk drive and connect it to a hard drive instead. They're still making one for the consumer. I'm pretty excited for it but I hope it's easy to do.

Acid etching works on glass. Haven't found any sources that say it works on acrylic. Acetone would probably melt acrylic 🤷♂️

My ssd isn't reconised is a 2280 samsung with an orico adapter solder directly u try disconnect usb c cable and out non solder one connect on a real usb port but dosoen't work

I haven't tried an M.2 SSD, so your results may vary. You may have soldered the wrong leads. Try connecting the drive via USB first before soldering.

#ImmodderNation do u think after applying a conformal coating and then spray painting on top of the motherboard what if I have to solder or desolder any component on the motherboard, will the paint catch fire after touching the hot tip of the nozzle to the motherboard. What is your feedback?

I suggest doing your soldering before conformal coating. You can get to the contacts by removing some coating. If you have to desolder something...I want to watch whatever it is you're doing that requires desoldering motherboard components.

This tutorial is even more wrong than i imagined. On first place dont paint the capacitors, they will overheat. Dont cover any resistors, it's obvious there are lots of them on the motherboard. YOU CAN'T PAINT A MOTHERBOARD SAFELY!!! You are better off making your own DIY motherboard shield using acrylic. In time the paint will kill the motherboard due to all the heat it traps in it. And it could be any component, can be a resistor, can be a capacitor, you never know. In all cases, such motherboard is not gonna last. DON'T do this mistake.

I have been a Commercial TV High Technical Maintenanace Engineer for over 15.5 years +, I have done so much repair work on Sony. Ampex and Hitachi Tape Machines and Cameras back in the early 1980's. I wish this was available back then when TV was still just analog. Nice to see a young person take such an interest in this. Great Presentation! Keep up the Good work!

Do not do this.....mod even if he says its not a mod. He did nothing with the board memory. Adding and internal ssd makes many problems because the wii u does not provide enough power especially if the drive gets bigger and bigger in size. Just buy a powered cheap external drive and it works wonderfully and fast just like Nintendo advise. Happy gaming to you all.

Thank you for the comment. Two things: 1. I think I already talked about SSD power requirements in the video. The drive I used doesn't require external power but some SSDs like Samsung will. 2. You can mitigate this issue with a Y cable that will provide additional power from a second USB port or you could wire 5V from the power plug using a step down converter if you don't want to occupy a USB port.
