So on the website they have the prices, is that in NZD? Currently booking from the US and I’m so confused the reviews say that people paid $90 or $78 but when I go on the website it says $158! 😭 just need some clarification, thanks 🙏🏽

Fun fact - all the hobbit holes have a space behind them , although it is mostly quite small. They have been built to conform to local council standards. I believe the intention is actually build a replica of a hobbit hole in one of the holes in Bagshot Lane, near Sam’s hole. They are hoping to open it in about 12 months

Why ?!? Do you think the guides, the gardeners, etc. should work for free ?!? Do you think the gas for all the tour buses is free ?!? Do you think the Green Dragon Inn employs cooking and wait staff -who will work for free ?!? Do you have any idea what it cost to build the entire place - and to continue to add to it ?!? Give your head a shake. The cost for the ongoing maintenance, and building of new attractions is HUGE. Only after all that is paid for - do the property owner, WETA Workshop and Peter Jackson split the remainder three ways between them. Here's an example of just ONE of the costs . . . The party tree was constructed twice. The first one didn't withstand the Winter well - so they built another one - from STEEL. ALL the hundreds of thousands of leaves (something like over 800,000) were individually made - and then wired onto the branches. You think that was cheap ?!? Or that WETA did all that work, and their employees all worked for FREE - to build just that one piece of the village ?!? What kind of fantasy world do YOU live in - where craftsmanship such as this is done for nothing ?!? My God !!

I grew up reading Tolkiens books and was obsessed with LoTr and The Hobbit, I still remember how my eyes lit up seeing my favorite characters on the big screen for the first time. I’ve been dreaming of visiting the movie set for years, and hopefully some day this will become a reality.
