Excellent haul: Harlan Ellison (I believe John Milton/Talking Stories was an acquaintance of Ellison while lived, wild guy both in his writing and life!), Dan Jones, new Conan! Actually just mentioned “Stand on Zanzibar” with Mr. Milton: It is not the easiest read, Brunner uses at least four different writing styles (one of which is just fragments of news bulletins and commercials to “set the mood” of the setting, in my opinion that is almost quite prophetic of how many “consume” the 24 hour news cycle and social media: Tiktok bits!), but it is a fascinating book in both what it nails and what misses (or yet to happen?)! Currently reading Bakker’s “Prince of Nothing” trilogy, grim and challenging indeed! Cheers! 😃

I started reading Science Fiction in 4th grade. My mother sent me to a Catholic school where the silly nuns NEVER taught science. I ended up learning science because of science fiction. I decided to go to college for engineering in 7th grade the year I read: *A Fall of Moondust* by Arthur C Clarke He used Plato's Allegory of the Cave to explain the perception of reality via infrared. I mostly deal with e-books but I use an app on my phone, AIReader, to do text to speech. So I can drive and read at the same time.

Most of Conan is free on the Internet in the US or Australia. Last time I checked Australia had some works that were not available in the US. I prefer reading in the characters life order rather than published order. *The Frost Giant's Daughter* and *The Elephant Tower* should be early reads.

Are we living in a sci-fi world with smartphones everywhere? Instead of reading SF for the sake of sci-fi how about SF for what is happening now and the near future? *Daemon & Freedom* by Daniel Suarez I read *Ringworld* and *Tau Zero* in 1970 while using punch cards to program a 370 in FORTRAN. You can live the science fiction now. Everybody expected Moon colonies instead we have economists who cannot figure out Planned Obsolescence. *The Space Merchants* by Frederick Pohl *The Door into Summer* by Robert Heinlein Read that in grammar school.
