The song Vedrai Vedrai by Luigi Tenco could be considered the Italian A Change Is Gonna Come. By the way, similar tragic stories Sam Cooke and Tenco. Congrats to Rhiannon and Francesco for this beautiful version.

Just saw the opening of Rhiannon's US tour, amazing energy, effort, and pure joy from her band of musical collaborators. She delivered a powerful performance with both fun and meaningful lyrics. Her vocal talent and range is unmatched.

I guess from the lack of comments, there’s apparently no words for how great this recital is! Rhiannon, no one projects voice and countenance as well as you. Your expression with your chosen instruments is genius! And that piano player dude of yours is masterful, at times even haunting. Good call on that. All the best to you both, and to my eyes and ears.

I am proud to have been a composition and piano student of Leonard Stein. "openness' as John Adams says -- that was Leonard. We studied Beethoven's sonatas the way Schoenberg probably taught them. A deep search for the unity, in this music. motivic passages, that in retrospect, I wonder if Beethoven was aware, of connections between the movements of the sonatas. At the same time, Leonard could accept John Cage -- the word is, that he found it all interesting. I remember the Paul Klee painting he had on his wall. I'm proud to say that I don't know how I did it because I was living with the Beats in Venice West at the time, but somehow I managed to present Leonard Stein in a solo performance of all of Schoenberg's piano music. Leonard Stein was at the forefront of contemporary music in Los Angeles, premiering major works by Boulez (the 3rd sonata), Stockhausen, Luigi Nono as well as Ives. He deserves a page in any book describing the history of the 20th-century avant Garde. He was always a supportive and encouraging teacher.

She takes on a great deal of music. Her commitment to contemporary music is life and death ,necessary and important. In a short time she has distinguished herself. First I heard her Stravinsky. I knew this was a talent w/something to say. I hope she like the Italian virtuosA will play Wallen and Marsalis ' concerti. Black composers are also fighting the battle to get ideas and legacies brought to serious music!

It really was wonderful, and thanks to those responsible for providing these video memories! I luckily stumbled across Ms. Giddens' info a couple of months ago and immediately purchased tickets to take in this wonderful event for the first time. I am so glad I did. I actually think I left a better person than when I came. Thank you to all of the artists, attendees, organizers, contributors, exhibitors, and volunteers. It was terrific, as was the hospitality of the people from Ojai. And I loved the Soule Park Golf Club on Monday morning to top it all off before slow rolling it down the coastal roads back to Solana Beach (San Diego). Peace and love to all...SS

beyond my expectations -- almost made it there in person but didn't alas. Thank you for keeping the entire program extremely humane and thoughtful. I so love Rhiannon Giddens (didn't check spelling again) ...As a musician (though amateur) I am so happy not all of USA life has become horrid and insane. Island of sanity, acoustical organic old and new, beautifully intellectual and MORE....🎹🎻🪕🎺🎤🔳🫐🥝🍊🍉🍇💃🖐

Just the BEST weekend of amazing artistry. I am sad to see the festival end but had a full weekend of stunning creativity. And I feel extremely lucky to have gotten to see the world premiere of Omar. What a GIFT. So much fun to be in the Livestream chat with hundreds of people from all over the world. Seeing so many different instruments and joyful musicians from myriad cultures. Thank you so much. I can’t wait for next year’s festival and hope that it will be streamed for us to make contributions toward the breathtaking art we get to witness for a full long weekend. Thanks to entire team. And thank you to Rhiannon Giddens who continues to stun with her many gifts and her giant heart. ☮️
