I understand many people are happy with their season or don’t believe you should question the seasons but we all have eyes and shouldn’t be doubting them if an old system isn’t working for us. There are three aspects of color according to seasonal color analysis Intensity, depth and temperature - finding your measure of these aspects is what matters - not what nickname it’s given. If not you should likely accept that you will always feel out of place in the 12 seasons ESPECIALLY if you are deep, cool and soft, or deep warm and clear bc 12 seasons says you don’t exist. 🥴

Omg omg omg I am Dark Winter with a fair cool olive skin tone! Dad is cool with pink undertone, and my mom is a cool light olive! So I ended up super pale cool olive (that matches with Ivory skin).

Audrie Tautou is by no means olive, she has pink undertones. I am a very pale and contrasted olive (a bright spring) with dark hair and dark brows, and green eyes and corals look amazing as my makeup colours, especially those kind of orangey-corals, they make my skin really glow and eyes pop. Neutrals will totally wash me out! Find you recommendations there for strange😢

I don’t know much about the color season system, so I didn’t realize that it isn’t designed to work for everyone. But, when I’ve seen images of the seasonal color palettes, I also thought it didn’t make sense to give everyone both cool and warm colors. If people feel restricted by Artistic License, I would ask them, “do you want to know what your very *best* colors are or not?” Something that’s the *best* is necessarily going to be more limited than the full range of everything.

What I learned is if you're a cool olive, you must not wear anything colorful. It must always be subdued or pale, faded. with a cool tinge. I've never seen Merriam wear anything colorful. A bit boring, yes.tbh. BUT.. to be fair, her skin SHINES.

Why you don't want to be the kind of rosy I seem to be 1. A nude lipstick makes it look like you're a kindergartener that went hard in the pudding packs 😂 2. You'll think you're warm because your red kind of overpowers your blueness 3. Anyone unaware of this will tell you you need to get some sun when it doesn't work like that

I literally just found out this happens to me. I analyzed photos of me since I was a kid. My skin tone is always lighter, warm and brighter in the winter and darker, cool and muted in the summer. The same no matter my age. It’s extremely bizarre. I posted on a color analysis group and everyone was so conflicted bc in my spring pics I look bright spring/ light spring but my June pics i look soft summer/soft autumn leaning soft summer. I’m more light to medium. Im guess when i tan, this is how my melanin changes my appearance.This is not just a thing with the lightest people. I can literally send you pictures if you want to see it.

Can you make a video about the darker skin tones that lean red? Often rosy skin is connected to fair and European skin. But no one really talks about the darker skin tones that are more rosy than olive. Edit: also I often wonder with some people if they are rosy or if it’s just redness within their face.

I’m olive skin cool but close to neutral. Cool and delicate olive here, Probably somewhere between true & light summer. Too much gold overtone to do the light summer colors but true summer is too grey. Can only do a few colors in middle. And dark colors in both palette way too strong.

can you please talk about cool overtone with warm undertone? my skin is pale olive and i have been typed in-person as having cool skin, but looking better in warm seasons (spring followed by autumn) so i think i must have a warm undertone! i cant find much information on this combo

So we all know there are tens and tens of different sorts of blonde. Hair colorists will call lighter brunettes as dark blond. We darken in our late teens to pump up contrast. Contrast gets attention and attention means mating.

Merriam, can that the green-red axis become more relevant than the warm-cool one in some cases? I'm warm olive. I have a hard time with any kind of reds and oranges, even the warm muted ones (brick red is the only one that looks harmonic). On the other hand, blues, especially warm blues, look better on me.

I have to say I'm really struggling with the idea that rosiness and olive are totally incompatible. I really do have so much green in my skin, but I also have a lot of bright pink on the surface and look pink from far away. However, in medium shots I am totally gray-green. I blush an almost watermelon pink. I think that my skin is quite thin-even moving my face around a little bit brings a flush of pink to whatever area that moved in a way that I don't see in others, so maybe I'm just seeing blood through thin olive skin?? Not sure if that's scientifically sound. I don't look great in bright heavy makeup, but I do look best in moderately bright thin makeup (a berry lip tint rather than lipstick for example). I am half Middle Eastern and half Nordic/Irish and I think that both are very evident in my skin tone. Very pale, dark hair, dark blue/green eyes. I'd be curious to know what you think, but can't afford analysis right now. One day!

Tip for the rosy cool girls who wear makeup: Natasha Denona's concealer comes in a rosy undertone, and the fairest tones are *quite* fair. I hope she does a liquid foundation at some point with the same undertone selection.

its weird how people squeeze into it while it obviously doesnt fit a lot of them, me included, and Im white, and even then its not. what I know I need is not fitting any of the 12 seasons and we are all so brainwashed that we still go on thinking „but I must fit in“.

So glad for the little section in the video stating the seasonal approach was created with love but with perhaps a limited audience. It was helpful in it's day, and still can be for many. I remember being draped 40 years ago for the first time, it was a consistent win with the "Summer" season. And the same when I did it again 5 years ago. It has helped me over all those years and continues to. In defense of the seasonal system, the women I've known who use it, drape people with it, would, and do, feel very comfortable draping any ethnicity, and do so successfully. This would possibly not be true of all color analysts who use the seasonal approach, if they have not been properly trained. There is a place in our world, with 8 million people, for multiple approaches to be used. Your addition of the facial structure affecting what is best on us is very interesting to me. I would like to hear more about that but can't find much in your videos, if there are ones with information about this, please let me know how to find them.

Oh my gosh, thank you! I used to work in the beauty industry and I have some background in art, especially color theory. The seasonal pallets just don’t make sense to me, they never have. A blue with a little yellow is in the warm “seasons” and a yellow with a little blue is cool? No

I am not referring to the natural face and body structure, but to their professional application of their supposedly effective 'system'. It's confusing. Physician heal thyself.

Being a warm type (just in colour analysis terms) I have always wonder how did the textile industry come up with red, royal blue, black and white being default colours for mass produced garments. Those are told to work for everyone, but it's usually more about social aspect and common opinions than looking good in one's own skin.

Actually, you can have olive skin and red hair. I once knew a Hispanic guy who had pale red hair, dark eyes, dark olive skin, and freckles. It was an odd combination, but he had it!

When I realized my sister and I are springs even though we’re black and have brown skin yet every chart on Pinterest shows light skinned black and mixed women for spring and summer types. I knew I couldn’t trust most color analysts.
