Earl is not superstitious but some of the Garb he wears to improve his game almost seems like he is girls got a great understanding of the game that's why he said the success he's had I hope you can pull out a few more major victories before he retires

couldnt one just use a projector for the Placement Pool idea that Earl is proposing or even get in touch with the guys who programmed Shooters Pool online game and get them to implement it into the game/program and then project that onto a normal table ?

I love to listen Earl, he is a real master of the game. However, that displacement pool idea, I believe only can work in big big tournaments. No pool room around the towns and cities will have that computer system. But it is only my humble opinion. I am with him on the idea of making a "new" game on a pool table to make the matches fairer between the players, but for instance, playing displacement pool, you never will have the opportunity to play good defense against your opponent and that is a big part of the game, are we agree? Anyway, I always wait to watch the Pearl playing a new tournament.!
@mr.s1961
@mr.s1961 17 күн бұрын
7 months later looks like no one agrees with you about defense being a big part. In fact, one of the tournament's Earl talked about (sponsored by Meucci & Camel with camel-colored felt) was an "offensive" tournament. You could NOT play defense, in fact if you did your opponent could make you shoot it. You had 20-25 second shot clock. Now that's closer to real pool. Defense is only good for people who can't run out and aren't good at pool.

Earl is right about getting an exemption- but pool is different. Not golf. you can win a match as an exemption- golf is a match with everyone. not fair to the field when one person takes a loss and others don’t.

Hello from Philippines. I Really thought that he was really arrogant the first time Earl had a match against Efren Reyes but when he finally won against our beloved pool champion Efren, I was really surprised how he acknowledged Efren's talent in the game. All great players lose and all great players win. Respect for this man.

You are correct about the “color of money” match. Earl definitely tried to shark Efren. Even though Earl had about a 20 rack lead… he got desperate (I think he was tired.), but he always had respect for Efren

They get mad at Earl because he's not a precious sponsor.. Everything is either Cuetec or Predator and of course diamond those 3 companies rule everything pool related.. If they say Jump, matchroom says how high.. I really think Matchroom just needs to say alright earl, you get one tournament to configure it how you want it to be and see what the ratings and the feedback is like. But that's going to mess with the sponsors money and they wouldn't like that at all. Cause they wouldn't be able to have their logos plastered on every inch of the screen..

Strickland is one of the greatest in the game. It would be interesting to see some of his ideas. But what he is talking about would fundamentaly change the game. Would be hard to do. I also think more $ in the game would help. But you know capitalism. There has to be fans that spend the money to support it. Thats where all the $ comes from in all sports.

The reason ESPN paid for hockey but wouldn't pay for pool even though they had the same viewer numbers is because of demographics. Hockey viewers are 18 to 35 year old males which is the prime target for advertisers. Pool viewers are all over the map so it's hard to sell ads. Golf almost nobody watches but the people that do watch it have a lot of money so they can get sponsors.

Yeah the tables are a problem when you have the one pocket finals at the Derby City Classic and the ball is rolling three inches off line on a Diamond table. I think the Predator tables are pretty good but the Predator cloth and balls aren't as good as Simonis cloth plus the Aramith tournament set with the measle ball. The Predator cue ball is too light.

Earl is a true GOAT and should be snapped up by Brunswick to design a decent pool table then us brits might adopt it, Earl is correct we find 9 ball easy, growning up on snooker which is billiards son we see combos earl Strickland would rub his eyes at and the yanks see banks we wouldn’t dream about. There is massive room for both or better still a fusion , maybe Chinese 8 ball tables playing American 10 ball would be a great game , big table big balls tightish pockets . Someone high up get earl pay him and reap the rewards

Hate to say it but pool is an antiquated sport. Billiards and pocket billiards has lasted for hundreds of years because the nature of it is infinite. I would think that because it's a sport played on a piece of furniture indoors puts a limitation on it. Teem sports are more exiting because there's more interaction. With pool, it's solitary. The opponent sits quietly and the atmosphere is quiet. Take money away from football and it will suffer as much as pool has been suffering. Just my two cents. I've been addicted to pool since 5 years old and will never stop playing and practicing straight pool.

Have you been paying attention recently? The sport is blowing up and half of the world's top 10 is under 28 years old. Tickets to the Mosconi Cup in Vegas cost hundreds of dollars. The number of big tournaments paying 30k or more are going up every year. Your examples are seriously reductive. Know what else isn't a team sport where it's always quiet? Golf. How are those guys doing?
