Our Airedale is only 6 months old, he is always on the go, in someways,even outright bad! People say that dogs dont think like humans, this guy does alot of side tricks to get to the other thing he wants, really! He actually has us fetching...... we are exhausted by days end....

I had. Well “had” is the wrong word. Never felt we owned him. Scruffy “lived” with us for about 14 years. What a character!! Even 10 years after he died the neighbors would tell Scruffy stories. It was always with a laugh and shake of the head. Several years after he was gone, I saw a lady who owned a large sporting goods store downtown. She knew him because Scruffy would sometimes go visit during one of his many escapades. After a few minutes, she asked if I would like some pictures of him that she took on one of his visits. I still have them. He was unique.

Dustin, I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost mine 13 months ago and have not recovered from the loss of her. She was 14yrs 3mos. When she passed. My search for another has been frustrating and heartwrenching. When I extended my hand I found her paw. I've had 5 Airedales and I can't picture my life without one. They are the best. Nice video

I have two Airedales, both are young and under two years. Everything you say here is true for my dogs except the part about exercise. They need A LOT of exercise or else they will literally eat my house. I mean like bite and destroy woodwork or walls. They get two hours of walks a day and the reason I got two was so they could play together. I think that helps but I also wouldn’t wish two young Airedales on my worst enemies! These dogs are special, yes like humans but I feel my whole life revolves around them. Still, I’m hooked on the breed. They are clowns and beautiful and sweet and stubborn and tough as nails. They boy is very bonded to me and I’ve never experienced a love like this before. He’s incredibly good looking and has some mild separation anxiety because he wants to be with me constantly. He’s not cuddly at all but I believe he would jump through a window to save my life if he had to. The girl is more independent and less goofy. She is the leader of the two despite her smaller size. She would protect the boy at all costs. She is also smarter than him. Can’t stress how much work an Airedale is but the upside is the deepest connection and loyalty. Very special breed indeed.

Absolutely great video! Describes Lilah to a T! She 's a great dog! Friendly with people and children. Supervision with small children recommended! Easy to train and entertaining to our family. Our Airedale (female, 55lbs.) lived to be 14 yrs. & 1 mo. She possessed all the Airedale traits you covered. Animated and entertaining, my next dog will be an Airedale. Ha de ron da, Haddie for short, came from a lineage of working stock dogs and definitely had the hunter instinct. She even treed a mama bear and her cub when she was 13.

Ladies, a handsome male Airedale with not only love you and be your best buddy, but he will protect you like no other dog. Often, he will follow you from room to room as your companion and protector even when there is no danger. He is easily made sociable to friends if you introduce him to them, but he will sense when there is a stranger at the door who does not have the right intentions. He can back up his' bark 100%

I have a Airedale she’s a pain

We have had two Airedales, both wonderful dogs. Crackers was affectionate and was really bonded to my wife. Roscoe was very smart and affectionate on his terms. I tell the story of my wife trying to get him to use doormans bell to tell us he wanted out. She tried for months, but he just didn't get it. Some months after she gave up, (the bell was still by the door) he was being ignored and out of the blue the bell stated ringing. From then on he rang the bell sometimes to where it got annoying if we didn't immediately let him out. If he was ignored and needed water he'd put a foot in the bowl and drag it over the tile while glaring at us, ignore to long and he push it so it slid past when we were in an adjacent room watching tv. We sure miss both, we'd have gotten another, but we inherited by daughter's wheaten and her 3 cats and we also have a Ridgeback. I tell my wife I am going to get another and she thinks we are too old..I tell her an Airedale will keep us young.

My Airedale is fantastic Teddy is just one year old and can be a handful at times but love him to bits

I have a giant schnauzer, English Mastiff, and will be going to get my Airedale this Saturday! My giant is defiantly the smartest dog I have ever owned, so I wanted to go with a similar breed. Or mabey it just cause the previous dog I trained was my mastiff😂. She may not be smart, but she can basic things like potty outside, sit and walk on a leash. Plus she is sweet with kids, and friends, but is also very protective. My giant is a little more aggressive though. For some reason there are a few people that he absolutely hates. Anytime they come over he literally will bark the entire time, and growl. I don’t want to punish him for being protective, so I usually just put him in my room and tell him to lay down.He never barks at people on walks, just when people come near the property. I’ve even taken him into stores before and he was fine. I hope the Airedale is a little more laid back, but I want still want him to be protective of me and my family. Super excited!

Someone broke into my dad's garden and the airedale ran him out of our garden and bit his leg and ripped his trousers, so they are a great guard dog

In regard to bathing, we lived in the country on a lake, and our female 'dale spent hours swimming. (Remember, they're part otterhound!) We never had to bathe her with soap, except when she ran into a skunk! Water doesn't deplete the oils in the coat, soap does. Give your Airedales a chance to get in the water and swim from time to time -- they love to fetch a ball or stick -- it's great exercise for them and they really enjoy it!

I've had 3 Airedales, Molly is 12 now, training, Molly has loads of trophies. l love all dogs, but I will always have an Airedale as the centre of my family.
