A great diminished run that I’ve always loved has been Frank Gambale’s on the song check blast near the end of the tune off Chick Corea’s to the stars album. It reminds me of Yngwie but sounds like it’s own thing, Frank starts out by sweeping it on the lower strings similar to what Andy is talking about in this episode.

Andy could you do a vid about playing with a reactive load box live, I’ve seen you live using your OX Box, but I also read that it’s dangerous to the box and the amp if a surge comes from FOH, not from the wall so to speak, asking cause I would to use a box with my amp instead of going to a modeler, thanks in advance.

I know isn't your Suhr T style, but what do you think of the Ultra Tele? Love the tele sound and shape, also love the contour cuts. lol

Awesome playing, I laughed when I saw Brent Mason comes rolling out from under the car, but wow he's still the greatest Country Music Guitar Player and getting to play with Andy Woods, another great guitar player I also love. God bless to all the boys and Brent.

This is a really great topic! In 1990 I bought the George Lynch REH video and he is totally focused on shapes. I played like that for years and it worked up to a point. As I got older I got more into grips (but I didn't know they were called that LOL). Now I kinda blend both, I think it's very important to be able to transpose all your licks in every key and understand why they work. The example you are talking about with the power chord grip is exactly how I fell into it. I still don't like to solo in F though. Great video as usual!

Talking about the Sammy tour, they are paying tribute to VH. They're not a tribute band. You are 100% correct about Joe being Joe playing Eddie, not trying to be Eddie. That's the only way to do it!

Wow, man! These kinds of shapes/licks/patterns are really hard for me, too! No way to improvise with these ideas in my case, though I play since 25 years now. But you really don't NEED to be able to play everything to stand out, you know. :) One more time: do you have any idea, when you'll be announced on the Guitar Summit homepage? I'm really anxious to get tickets quickly enough. Checking the masterclass page way too often. :D Btw... do you also appear at the Suhr booth or even do a public masterclass? Cheers from Germany! Markus

The wide intervals gave Eric Johnson vibes even the licks and phrasing, he uses these wide intervals. Practicing his songs really helped me here 😂 although I never understood about wide intervals until now.
