I like this alot and thought it was Lenny Castro on percussion. He got about in the late 70's and 80's.
@TommyTaylorOfficialАй бұрын
Lenny played on the album recording on some songs, but James Fenner was our live percussionist.

@@TommyTaylorOfficialyes, no doubt it was elevated by his contribution (his organ part is such a subtle but very tasty icing on an already delicious cake) it all starts with a strong song and you had that.

Great tune with very moody background shots, not to mention the strong and deliberate vocal. Harmony vocals are subtle and nice, but don't intrude on the lead vocal. This video/vocal performance gives me some ideas for some of my future works.

You know...I love seeing this from someone I have known for eternity. Somewhere the seed for what would evolve into some lyrical ability was pushed ahead by chasing your achievements in SRA in primary school. I'll never forget those times. I couldn't keep up...but I tried and I feel it made a difference.

nice one Tommy , lovely to see Rob Meurer on piano, how i miss him
@TommyTaylorOfficial10 ай бұрын
Thank you so much. This is one of the last things Rob recorded on piano probably. Even though it was 2013 I don't think he was actively doing a lot of recording on piano. Sadly it was the only thing I was able to have him work on. We had planned on much more but alas it led me to Michael Omartian and that has made all the difference.

Rare indeed. Kind of has a hippie sound to it with slight hints of the late 70s … and considering this is 74 makes it rather interesting imo But I could be way off base too as far as you’re concerned too

This was the side of Chris' music that intrigued me the most I think. This one is maybe a little embryonic, but I love everything about it. Rob's drumming is stellar here especially. Even being heavy on the acoustic side..it's a very signature sound and more rock I think, than where we ended up. The darker chord structures..the haunting air...his more intense vocal with vibrato. His lead playing here is some of his best work to me. He had a number of deeper heavier tunes in his arsenal. The success kind of ruled out any possibility of heading in that direction at the time. I'm saddened in a way by it because it ticked all the boxes for me. It's a bittersweet memory of what I loved about our band and the way we thought about music in the beginning, even though this is only the two of them.

@TommyTaylorOfficial Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I get all kinds of comparisons to Jackson and I'm happy to take them! I can't say that I was ever a deep listener to his music. I certainly heard the hits but I never actually owned any of his records. I wouldn't call him an influence, but I surely don't mind the comparisons, he's awesome! The video was done by Curtis Kolbrenner. He's an amazing artist!
