why would you just have their nest there and not bother them and why would you take the pork chick and leave it on the road don’t have any sympathy. You should be nice not just to people, but to every living thing.
@nooneeyeno2 ай бұрын
I understand your concern. I would love just to leave them be and I did. They nested next to my front door. I had to enter my house through the garage for a couple of months. They dive-bomb me checking my mail. The chick in the road, I have no idea how it got there. We have larger birds that prey on nest eggs and chicks, large black birds, hawks, and owls just to mention a few. Nature is sometimes cruel. My neighbor had them too. She goes in and out of her house, checks her mail, and so on using an umbrella and is not happy. I don't want to harm any animal, I am on your side. I fear they would take someone's eye out. But I did leave those nests there. I didn't harm or touch the nest until the winter when they were long gone. Thanks for sharing your concern.

We have a couple that lives in our front yard. When we get close to their chicks in their nest, they dive bomb us and try to chase us away. They are constantly watching from nearby trees and sitting on telephone lines just outside our house. I have video of them chasing away a squirrel that was eating out of its bird feeder. And they are very noisy.

Can't blame them. How would you like it if a stranger kept messing with your babies? Due to overbuilding we have destroyed their habitat and the are fighting to survive. Sad what man does to nature and just laughs it off like it's no big deal. We ought to respect not ridicule nature!

Great review. I am thinking of purchasing this rack. I have the 11/4 hitch. Have you had any trouble with the hitch ball locking mechanism coming lose while driving? I have seen a couple of people claim to have had their rack fall out of their hitch while driving. That makes me nervous since it does not have the pin to secure it in the hitch.
@nooneeyeno3 ай бұрын
That was my worry at first, The hitch's steel ball pushes itself into the hole for the pin on my receiver. But I do have two velcro strips that I wrap around the hitch to the receiver on either end. Same principle as chains but velcro. After several years. no problems for me.

These are the only sounds I’ve ever heard from mockingbirds. In 2008 I lived in a neighborhood with a variety of birds, and pretty bird noises. One day I realized I didn’t see them any more, only heard these ugly squawking noises. Mockingbirds had moved into the neighborhood and chased off any bird that was pleasant to see or hear.

Perhaps if they are getting worse and more and more aggressive and make even just sitting outside a battle ground, remove the nest, dump the chicks to the neighborhood crows, feral cats and local raccoons, and pretend the rats got onto the nest one night. Rats will raid birds nest and eat both eggs and nestlings.

I have two (male and female) in my pomegranate tree. I kept seeing them fly around squawking and chirping, back and forth from fence to tree, to another tree, back to fence... it seemed like they were distressed. Then the gardener pointed to a fledgling on the ground. I put gloves on and scooped it onto a dustpan and then ran all the way around my huge fence and placed it gently in the shade. The birds immediately stopped squawking. The baby is back in the tree, and the parents are always on guard, but they never attack me.

Great video! just watched one about a museum that has a mocking bird nesting habitat. They placed signed warning people about possible dive bombs fornthe duration of the nesting period. The ones nested outside my apartment currently are definitely protective but not THIS aggressive! The museum says to carry an umbrella over your head and partway down your back. They said the birds dont seem to like the umbrellas.

They WILL NOT hurt a human. They are not attacking. They are trying to scare off what they perceive to be a predator. All the bird does is fly close to..or sometimes his/ her body will actually touch you. But they DO NOT peck, bite, nor attack. I have had multiple birds do this to me. It is quite an amazing thing to experience... I too start laughing...I think the laughter for me comes from the amazement that I am the focus of their attention... I think it is COOL as hell.............

Oh yes they will strike one on the head, I've seen them do it to cats, hawks, squirrels, dogs and crows, and seem very unafraid of people as well. They do try to aim for the eyes.
