It will be really cool if you could somehow use the depth sensor to model a real life object to 3d. For now, Im in the furniture manufacture business and our clients send us a sample piece and we have to recreate it on 3D so we can program the machine to cut it. Is there any video that could guide me on how to accomplish this with gravity sketch? Is it possible to fix the z axis so I can make a 2d outline of the figure? that is really the only thing I need since almost all pieces are 2D I just extract outline vectors and use dxf to create the programing

One of my most used tools in Blender, Maya and Alias is a simple lattice rig/transformer rig to make quick global deformations on existing geometry. It would be great to have something like this in Gravity Sketch.

Is there a way to artificially slow down the movement in Gravity Sketch so you can move Vertices more precisely/accurately? With Blender, you press the shift button to move Vertices more slowly, in Alias there is a Mouse Sensitivity slider, and even on windows, you can change the speed of your mouse movement. For me, this is really important to take modelling seriously with Gravity Sketch.

Great question!! For this we recommend scaling yourself to smaller size (making the object bigger) and your movemements will be much smaller. Using scale is powerful in Gravity Sketch becuase it is a spatially immersive experience!

Can you extrude in the same orientation of the original surface, or normal to surface? This could be a toggle as with other modelling software.

You can extrude faces and multiple faces in SubD mode in Gravity Sketch, it will not necessarily be normal to the surface but the idea in Gravity Sketch is to create quickly at the cost of some precision tools you may be used to in other programs. We are not meant to be a CAD program or a fully loaded 3D production software like Blender.

@@GravitySketchKZfaq The thing is, Industrial design production programs, especially automotive, are being shortened because of soaring costs and competition, so accuracy is being demanded from day one. Designers and modellers are required to implement precision even with the first sketch models. Unfortunately, the sketch phase in automotive production is less than 5% of a total project, and will become less, so it is hard to justify the use of Gravity sketch to a whole department only to switch to another software after just a couple weeks.

Why doesn't the revolve tool go below 45 degrees? I need 36 degrees! Is it possible to change the amount of sections/edge loops on a revolve?

@@GravitySketchKZfaq I am building a 5 spoke wheel. I will build half of the spoke - 36 degrees, mirror it to make a complete spoke - 72 degrees. Then copy rotate it 4 more times.

The mirror plane is always fixed. We have been asked a lot from the community on possibly adding more axis but for now it is one.

If I build 1 spoke of a 5 spoke wheel, how do I copy/revolve the other 5 spokes?

A great way to do this is to build a spoke using the ribbon stroke type inside menu of the stroke tool. Turn on radial symmetry and set your number. You can then convert to subd and continue editing the stroke/spoke design in a radial pattern.

@@GravitySketchKZfaq I built the spoke this way, but I was trying to do the same with the rim and it it hard to keep it round. I built the rim with revolve tool to make sure it is round. Then I chopped it down so I can merge and join it to one of the spokes. Now I want to copy/rotate it.

I'm using Gravity Sketch 6.3 version with my quest2 gaggle, and I got a super low fps visual experience when I looked at models(any imported data).... is it because of version 6.3 can't work with quest2??

If you are importing models they are likely very heavy in terms of polygon count. We are working on a decimation feature to help with this experience.

I think the ease of use of modeling topology should be improved. The modeling surface is always unable to fit the pre-drawn lines well enough. My forehead modeling is always bumpy, as long as the surface is slightly complicated, it will be like this

good job, this is the way, although this app is far from being perfect, you need more tutorials, to be more intuitive and that 1 object with the shape that I want can empty or make holes in the 2nd object as if from an eraser will be treated

Working with textures looks very cool, as does file organization. I think it would be no less functional when editing textures to be able to also move and rotate it relative to the geometry in manual mode. There is a very lack of functions for selecting an arbitrary place for the mirror, like the plenary function, the ability to switch and select several mirror reflection axes for each object separately, I would also like to see a bevel function for selected edges, the possibility of scaling for separately selected groups of points/edges/polygons, and of course an analogue of bulenic operations. Are looking forward to. Thanks for a magic GS.

Super cool design…. Easy to imagine this printed in different materials with different properties… durability for the part that touches the Ground and elasticity and perhaps even odor reducing capabilities for the “inner” shoe… and also cool demonstration of gravity sketch and pass through mode…. Would love to see these printed and tested…..

Please add opportunity to export files locally on PC or headset. Landing pad services is not aviable here, so whole VR thing becames garbage without such handy instrument as Gravity Sketch =( It makes me sad and cry.
