How long does it take to dry before a second coat can be applied? Researching a small diy project-was considering painting a high contrast (black and white) 12x12 checkerboard pattern on a concrete slab under a pergola but wary of peeling and I want durability and I love the idea of cementitious paint. I have a separate project ongoing which entailed pouring quick set mortar into a 9 foot round mandala. Would love to enhance the contrast and seal and protect all my hard work.

It can , but you should try some muriatic acid to get a better etch , at least 27% hydrochloric acid not the home Depot swimming pool stuff , fill a 5 gallon bucket with water about half way , add about 1/3 of acid to it , mist area with hose and nozzle , make sure you put water wherever acid or water is going to flow pre applying acid because it might stain area that isn't being worked on , use a small cup and pour on concrete and work it with a push broom back and forth then rinse with hose .. also make sure the acid starts to bubble or react when you apply on concrete as shown on this video , if it does not you may need to add more acid, good luck 👍

Thank you for the video, I have a question. I recently had stamped concrete installed in my backyard I did it myself with the help of family, i pressure washed release and sealed just like in your video when it dried there were some shoe prints comin through in some spots, what’s the best method to remove in your opinion?

I’ve acid etched before as a surface finish preferring it to a broom finish. I’m preparing to do the same to a new patio pour. Is it necessary I seal it after? I’m watching videos as a refresher and the acid wash seems to only be used for preparation of something to go on top of the concrete. I live in temperate climate of PNW. What do you recommend?
