This is so beautiful the world’s biggest wave. It’s protected by the Peruvian government’s national law. Nothing can be built within one km and including anything that might affect the shape of the wave.

*Looks like Rincon to me, just south of the river mouth.(where I surfed countless NW swells since the mid 70s.)* *STORY* *Imagine 2x that size, I took off at the river, back doored the section before inside point, then back doored inside point, and stayed barrelled (like this guy).* *Now, instead of my tube ride ending where this guy's did, I dug my arm into the face, to slow down and not come out, as the very inside section built up.* *The section was about 30 feet long, and about 3 ft overhead, and as it started to stand up and feather, I pulled my arm out, and became caved, 30- 40 feet deep in a barrel.* *I stayed in that barrel about 8 ft back, which seemed like forever, until I saw it walling up ahead, jammed for the mouse-hole, and shot out of it to the flats.* *I was about 20 feet from the rocks inside that line the highway, and that's about 150 yards down the highway (I marked my end with a hwy sign, and checked it on my way home).* *in my 52 years of surfing, that was the longest barrel I ever had, or seen anyone get, anywhere.* *The people on the shore on my way back to the trail, were stopping me to congratulate me on the barrel.* *Some thought I ate it and got stuffed, and were looking for my board and body to pop up, they never saw me come out at the end.* *ANYWAY; This video just brought that flashback to me, from the early 90s. at Rincon*

Great. Another form of competition in surfing. Look at the dismissive nonsense in the comments. Why don't you folks just enjoy the ride. There's one Cape St. Francis and who cares if Super Tubes is better or if somebody's a kook because they don't recognize a wave from some 20 second video. Just get in the water and enjoy OMO. Surfing takes place in the water, not on the internet.

was there any north in this swell? or does this spot need straight west swell? would like to go check out when this spot is firing.
@triggeringusingreality4934
@triggeringusingreality4934 2 жыл бұрын
More west and longer period the better. Mid period can sometimes be fun too. WSW is actually the best though and I believe if I remember correctly this swell was coming off a pineapple express storm so this swell was WSW which basically means "extremely west" The more North in the swell, the spottier it will be. Also will break more on the tip of the sandbar/ point than wrap all the way to the freeway like it was this day

I’m years late on this but does anyone know who that dude is at 1.10 to like 1.20. That is as good as backhand tube riding gets in these conditions. If he didn’t run that dude over while pigdogging he’d have made the third pit too!

Yeah at this size it doesn't look like much of a shortboard wave tbh. Never really stands up fully or barrels, looks like it'd be kinda frustrating if you were wanting to rip the bag outta it on a high performance shortboard! Would be super fun on a high volume twinny, fun board, mid length, mini mal or longboard though!! Probably not worth travelling halfway round the world for if you got it like this though and you're a shortboard only kind of guy or gal!? Super fun on the right board. Needs a little more size for the shortboard..

During '82-'83 El Niño year saw Shuan Thompson absolutely dominate the perfect double overhead surf and barrels. Waves wapped from around the point to the inside near the freeway., So big that year Rincon was walled out. El Cap and Fernald's were perfection. BTW Shaun is a dick.

If this swell hit Chicama as often as it did who would even travel to Indonesia to surf? This wave really has it all when it gets to a certain size.. the point is barreling and the middle section is just a really fun looking fast breaking bowl. I cant wait to get here soon. hopefully my 5'10 will be enough for the serious swell that is projected to hit the 23rd

What kind of swell are we talking about here? I am going fairly soon and there is projected to be 7-9 foot waves. I am wondering if that is bigger than what is shown in this video or about the same. It is going to ease off into 5-6 foot the days after.

a lesson on how not to film a surfing video
@Theperfectlineup974
@Theperfectlineup974 7 жыл бұрын
Hey, sorry you don't like it. I think most surfing videos nowadays are filmed with extreme close-ups on the surfers, and I often feel frustrated not to be able to see the line-ups for more than 3 seconds. So I wanted my videos not to be about the surfers, but about the waves. Then it's amateur content, I have no pretentions ;)
