Just compared the KR 127VR to a Carver MXR150 with a Douk Audio VU3. Both sound clear as a bell, no distortion and plenty of headroom. Very good budget receivers.

Love them! I’ve had a pair of VS 120’s for 30 years and they still rock with no problems whatsoever. Rock just sounds better on CV speakers!

This was reviewed in the New York Times, 5 May 1985. It retailed for $550, which is $1550 in 2023 dollars. It weighs 17 pounds. The review complains that there's something incoherent about the unit: the CD player is much too good for the crappy little amp and speakers, like "putting a Jaguar engine in a Rabbit." I guess the reviewer never would have imagined you'd be able to buy brand new CD boomboxes for $20 from K-Mart one day.

Holy smokes you have that bass cranked up darn near to the maximum 😳 You need to invest in some good speakers cause there’s no reason to be cranked up that far? Nice radio though.. Don’t see many of these 800’s anymore that’s for sure..
