Is there a way to stack multiple one shot samples for snare?
@rsdrumsofficial
@rsdrumsofficial 12 күн бұрын
With Fairview, you can only load a single one shot for kick and a single one shot for snare. We've considered adding this feature in future kits, but not sure yet. The next library will be the same as Fairview, but we're adding the ability to also load tom one shot hits.

Its really cool sounding kit. the one shot blend is a cool function. So many modern record have that Gunshot layered underneath the snare. I just bought an ekit and realized pretty much all Kontakt libraries just don't work well with ekits. Chokes and hihat, just a pain in the arse. Id love one of these kind of plugin kits, but more functional for ekits. Like aftertouch cymbals and a hihat function similar to SD3. For me Superior drummer is overkill and ezdrummer 3 is great out of the box functionally to jump on and play but has that over processed *ezdrummer sound* I'd prefer a plugin like Fairview or like a M&M or this or even the Luke Holland, ... ... but all the functionality of ezdrummer 3 - maybe without the band mate function and a trigger loader instead. Mixwave doesn't register chokes, so its a non starter GGD - doesnt work with aftertouch chokes. Krimh - has an aftertouch switch but it seems more like a volume roll off, some decent preset mapping lists - but the free demo you cant adjust velocities to check that the hi hat will adjust properly. like for me the snare doesn't seem to have enough layers, but I cant check without adjusting the veloctiy curve. and the hi hat doesnt trigger properly but again I cant change the mapping in the demo to check it will actually work in the full version. Anyways, thank you for coming to my tend talk.

We're actually working on this right now for our next library. It's definitely a bit tricky getting aftertouch working how it should, but I'd like to sort this out if we can. The new library, which will hopefully be released in a month or two, has much more dynamics compared to Fairview. So it feels better to play on an e-kit already. However, I'm just trying to fine-tune the small details, aftertouch included. We do have cymbal mutes available within the instrument now. Just need to test more.

The boost function is elaborating on what Perfect Drums did but giving more versatility with the mix presets. Really clever idea. Maybe it was just the programming, but it did sound like the crashes were shotgunning in the MIDI groove. Some in-depth humanizing controls would be cool like in DrumGizmo, and I will always ask for individual left-hand/right-hand articulations for realism, at least on the shells.

The Fairview kit sounds really great as a raw base! Insane amount of detail and realism for the price, it just took a little balancing. The presets are obviously catering to the more plug'n'play type. My newest Tesseract cover uses it for the majority of the kit. However, there are especially two things I'd really appreciate in an update or a future kit: 1. Two left crashes. Right now there is only one, so I have to load up another instance of the instrument to get a set with two left crashes. It's a little tedious. 2. Seperate routing outputs for kick in/out and snare top/bot. With my workflow it's just easier, since I bounce everything and never use the built-in mixer. Otherwise, the sampled range of kit pieces are more than enough and sound great. With that said, few well sampled kit pieces with a lot of detail and dynamic response is much more valuable than a ton of bad sampled options. I never use any fancy boost-features or oneshot options, but I understand that there's an appeal for a quick mixed sound, if the library is used for songwriting. Hopefully, the next library will still focus on a great raw foundation!
@rsdrumsofficial

Thanks a lot for the great feedback! We really appreciate it. There will be a few different cymbal options on the next kit, in specific, a normal crash and a trash crash on the far left. We're also trying to figure out if we can add multi-out routing on the Sub Mixer, so you can do exactly what you described and route individual microphones. It'll bypass any internal bus processing we have for the mix presets if you route from here, but we figured that anyone who wants to route individual mic's will most likely have a different workflow anyways that doesn't rely on the mix presets. Hopefully the next kit accomplishes what you're looking for. \m/

Awesome video Anup! I really enjoyed the detail you went into and some of the history you shared behind this kit. This is by far my favorite kit out of the massive library of various drum plugins I have. Fairview is so easy to just throw on a stereo track and have amazing sounding drums just right out of the box. You guys made it so easy with that Multi Out setting as well for when you really want to dial in the tone. Thanks for going the extra mile and processing these samples in the the VST and allowing us to blend them to taste as well. That alone makes my songwriting process so MUCH easier. I don't have to worry about adding 4-5 plugins for rooms, snare, kick, toms and tweaking a bunch of raw samples until I get a drum sound that is inspirational to write with. The one shot mixer and loader just makes everything that much better (different rooms fx for samples? You guys have thought of everything!). It's evident you guys put a TON of thought and work into this. I'm looking forward to ya'lls future with this and hoping you guys take over the drum vst market by storm.

@@rsdrumsofficial Indeed, and to be honest, judging by your samples quality, this vst would be on another level. One of the reasons me and other colleagues in the music industry stopped using GGD and turned to toontrack was the midi aftertouch thing (and Kontakt of course haha). I don't get how a company like GGD can't invest on a standalone engine and effectivel immediately solve the cymbal choke limitations, while users come up with custom scripts and code to resolve this issue. Anyway, I 'll stop rumbling now, I love both of you guys and I really trust your tastes and work ethic. P.s. The groove player in Fairview (along with other Kontakt drum instruments) will read a general MIDI mapping. You can convert the MIDI from Guitar Pro to general MIDI, and the groove player will be able to read/assign the articulations properly. Another option is to change the MIDI assignments in the 'Settings' page of Fairview to match the Guitar Pro mapping, and you can save that custom mapping for future use as well. This will allow you to drag the MIDI from Guitar Pro straight into your session. And yes, you can tweak the velocity within your DAW. Hope this is helpful.

This is sounding really nice. I'd love to see a rundown video that illustrates all the different drums and cymbals that are available. Maybe clicking the dropdown buttons on the kit page to show the options for each slot, or a drum/cymbal list on the product page. The reason I request that is because I own a lot of the different drum VSTi's on the market (SSD, GGD, Drum Forge, and more) so a big selling point to me is knowing exactly what drums and cymbals come with each product. Also, I'd like to know what the differences are between Enso and Fairview. There are more options that come with Enso, so I'm curious as to why that is a more affordable product than Fairview. Is it the quality of the samples that were recorded? Less desirable room that Enso was recorded in? Or perhaps Enso was just more cost effective to create all around? Would love some insight! A third idea, and this may just be wishful thinking, but I'd love to see an RS product that could allow for seamless integration of all RS products within one instance of Kontakt. Sort of like one main UI, but each round of kit pieces (Enso, Fairview, etc) being released as expansions. In other words, one VSTi where all RS Drums products are compatible within the same plugin. And maybe existing customers could be discounted a little as sort of a 'loyalty' program, raising incentive for existing customers to continue purchasing RS products. But I realize that may be too cost-inefficient at the moment, but I think that'd be a great end goal.
@rsdrumsofficial
@rsdrumsofficial Жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot for the suggestions! We just updated the product page on our website that lists all of the cymbals and drums we sampled. We definitely do plan on releasing a video that walks through the entire instrument, which will hopefully be out in the next few weeks. As for Enso vs Fairview, Enso does have a lot more options, however, Fairview is definitely much easier to use and way more mix ready. Enso was a big learning curve for us, and as difficult as it is to admit, we weren't thrilled on the final outcome. I think we tried to reinvent the wheel with the UI for Enso, and a lot of the focus on sound/usability was lost along the way because of this. So we're treating it as a 'sample pack' that comes in the form of TCI's for Slate trigger along with a Kontakt instrument. This is also why we've priced it so low. Alex and I have improved a lot with engineering and sampling drums, and we gained a lot of perspective on what people seem to prefer. Fairview is a much (much much) better representation of that growth. Even further, all of the feedback we've been getting on Fairview has been incredibly helpful as we plan to make another drum instrument in the future. I definitely want to cover more of this in a video, just to shed some light on the entire process. Lastly, that would honestly be amazing if we could create something like that, but it would definitely take a lot of budget that we just don't have. We absolutely want to make things as easy as possible for anyone interested in what we create. So that will definitely be one of our main focuses. Unfortunately, a large scale integration like that is just too expensive for how small we are (Alex and myself - Anup). But, it is an amazing idea, and we would totally be about it if it was financially realistic for us. If you're interested in hearing how Fairview sounds out-of-the-box, I just posted this video on our channel that compares the 4 mix presets available. The only processing is a limiter (-5 dB), otherwise no mixing/processing/routing/etc. Fairview also has a 'Boost' knob, where you can essentially lower our internal bus processing. If set to 0%, people can work with a much more raw/natural sample. I'll be posting a video this week that shows the difference with the Boost knob set to 100% and 0%. Thanks again for the comment and great suggestions. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/h7SnopSe2N-ncmw.html
