You have yet to grow up out of your teenager fantasy world. Hopefully, you will do it, learning a bit of actual history and about the real world. I wish you to succeed in this respect, because it could be disastrous, before that, to succeed in anything else. Reed was a grown up navigating the real world a century ago. A real world that was at times as surreal as today's. WW1 was surreal. The Bolshevik coup and "Soviet" union without soviets was surreal. But Reed was navigating all that in a plausible way. You are not. The USSR was a horrendous experience, and not just at its peak under Stalin. The Russian Federation, sequestered by a murderous gang of KGB fascist weirdos, is becoming ever more horrendous since 1999. And there you are, playing the character of a delusional kid from Vancouver trying to come of age in an exquisitely bizarre way. Anyway, good luck, don't get hurt too much. You can do it. 😉

Are you practising teaching English in Russia? Would be interesting to watch a video about your experience. This would be an interesting and efficient way for those would like to relocate to Russia...
