Good to see Mississippi boys and girls getting it done! That white TJ is impressive. Was that yellow JK running 33's? My TJ has 35's and I was wondering if it was enough to go play out there.
@ThatJeepAdventure22 күн бұрын
Thanks! The Yellow JK is on 35s. There are plenty of places in Moab that your 33s would be enough. It’s a must do trip

Nice job. I’m working on prepping/pumping myself up to do a restoration on a ‘78 with a 304. I just need to start with a new chassis. It was bent from a previous owner/lifetime racing. I’ve tried having it unbent by 3 different businesses but it has never truly worked. Just need to bite the bullet for a new frame.
Looks like my garage…. Jeep parts everywhere and no room to work…😂

Wheeled for a full day with no issues. Coming back into the parking lot off the main road I went to pull it out of 5th gear and put it in 3rd and it didn’t want to come out of 5th. Gave it a little pressure and it went to neutral. Guessing a shift fork is bound up or broken because the shift won’t move forward or back at all. Basically stuck in neutral

My 2001 TJ SE does well on the highway and off road with 235/75-15 (29”) tires and 4.10 gears. For technical stuff, low range isn’t low enough for my taste (with 5 speed) but is doable. If anyone plans on getting 30” tires or larger, and intend to go off road, RE-GEAR IT. Even then I don’t think you’ll be happy with it on the highway, the 2.5L is a bit of a dog. Plus, if you retain the Dana 35, as you go up in gear ratio the ring and pinion teeth get smaller and smaller; very weak (super 35 kit won’t help). Now, this setup of mine allows me to crawl over obstacles rather than have to dump the clutch and smash the throttle. For technical areas I do have to get on and off the clutch more than I’d like, but I can’t afford a 4:1 transfer case either. 🤷♂️
@ThatJeepAdventure8 ай бұрын
4.88 works well for 33-35s with the 2.5s. I just installed a weighted flywheel when I did my clutch a couple weekends ago. It’s a solid upgrade. It holds speed much better on the highway. Haven’t had it in low yet but supposedly it’s a big gain there too. Maybe check that out. My 5:1 Atlas showed up a couple weeks ago too. Gonna tear the Jeep down in January to stretch it and get the atlas installed. Between the weighted flywheel, 5.13s, and 5:1 tcase, it should give me the power I need to turn 40s 🤘🏽. It probably won’t love it going down the road but it pulls the 37s I have now and still retains a bunch of 5th gear

Nice rig! I run my hi-lift on the hood. It is a bit awkward to get to, but not ridiculous. I think the placement makes me consider all other options (that are likely safer) before I pull it off the hood 😂
