I've one of these radios which my Dad and I bought used in 1985, don't use it day to day but occasionally dig it out and power it up, main issue I've had is the microphone cable going sticky but fortunately had an identical one off a similar vintage Trio that was scrapped. Good luck getting this one working 👍

Ok thanx. Just wana to say big up on sharing this video coz I had the exact same nightmare getting to the "interface connected" step. Now I just need to take the time to have everything running without interruption and studying all the modules. Ultimately I need to do an Eeprom as I recently changed the lockset on the car(mk2 megane). Anyways once again thanx for the detailed video. If you have any on BCM/UCH programming please share.

Will do, from memory I couldn't find my BCM on the list either. It is there, but has a weird name. Just be sure to get a french translator app on your phone. My top tip is do NOT click anything at all if you're not sure it works. I reset my fuel trims and that worked, went to recalibrate and that function didn't work. Caused my car to run like garbage until a lad with clip could come round. For anything aside from code reading the app is at best, untrustworthy 😅

Scan all the modules, it takes about 30 mins. The ones you have connected will then show. The BCM is not called BCM, it's called something else.

Nice to see a TR-9000. I have a TR-9130, and it has that common problem of intermittent connections in all those multipin connectors behind the switch board. You can definitely do more of these videos, as far as I am concerned. Tks de ZS1DFR

My experience with technical manuals was the same but in a different field. They are clearly written by people who know exactly what they are writing about & it appears obvious to them. They seem to never look at what they have written and think can these instructions be interpreted incorrectly. It caused me some headaches I can tell you. Nice to see a fellow Yorkshire man helping others.

Its much the same as CB radio really, with the exception of the fact you need a licence, and take a test to get it. You can use varying kinds of radios, make your own antennas, communicate varying distances, use digital modes, etc etc. But yeah, go Google it. Its a thing!

Question... Why do the eject to write TOC and then re-insert the disc? Can't you just do everything you have to do on that disc then eject it? I've seen several people complete a single operation, then eject to write the TOC. That just seems like a lot of unnecessary wear on the loading mechanism. Thanks!

It's actually my deck - great job Paul!! I also have a Sony 661s which Paul sorted out - again great work. I've some cassettes from back in the day that I very occasionally play, and I can now do tape to tape with the Nak being the playback deck. I doubt tapes will come back like vinyl has but if (like me) you want to record something from vinyl or another source, a good cassette deck can have its place. Getting a good vintage one serviced like this gets you a better machine than a new one (without dolby etc).

Hi I did and it didn't work. It seems limited to use in lower versions of windows. What I did learn is DO NOT press buttons on things you don't understand. Some elements don't work - such as injector coding. At least on my version. I reset my fuel trims and it was a terrible idea. I had to pay a guy with Clip to sort out my mess. Its great for code reading and diagnosis. Very dangerous for anything more complex. Good luck!

Another thank you for this great video. My KE200 had also stopped working as both belts had disintegrated to an oily mess. I followed the instructions you provided and got into the unit and spent at least 1.5 hours cleaning the oily gunk out (truly a messy process - I used most of pack of cotton buds and a third of a botte of IPA). Got a replcement belt and roller kit from Ebay (£11) which included a new spindle for the roller and fitted them as shown in this video. Fired it up and was extremely pleased to have my cassette desk workng again.

I have the same deck, although in silver, and really like it. What causes these motors to flat spot, and is there any way to avoid it?
@pwrestoration
@pwrestoration 24 күн бұрын
Unfortunately it seems not, it's caused by lack of use or the motor being in one position. The motors CAN be refurbished but the concencus is that it will fail again. Using a new, albeit Chinese replacement is looked down on by purists but it doesn't affect playback or recording. Just takeup and RW/FF. I've done a few now.
