The timing was my issue. It’s a lot less than five minutes there’s a 30 questions and I think I had 40 minutes to do it. All I know is I got down I was doing good but it takes some time to figure out somebody these things are asking you they build this little code and they more or less you gotta go through it and figure out the result and and all of a sudden I looked at the clock and I had six minutes left and I still had 10 questions to do so I still had a third of the test to do, and I just went through and answered questions, probably if I decide to take it again the second time they don’t give you like Cisco gives you like a demonstration and I didn’t understand what they wanted me to do when it came into the either the dragon drops or matching and that kind of stuff I didn’t know what I was supposed to do so that took some time too I think they could do a better job making the test by explaining that a little better but that was it. I feel that I failed by one question I got a 69 so I think you got nine right I must’ve got I mean you know what I mean I cannot you can only if you get most you can get wrong is nine so I must be wrong, but you know I wasn’t prepared, it was a fail debating if I’m gonna take it again I might go through my material and and and see again it wasn’t that bad but I guess I would have to be quicker at analyzing code I think is my issue and the guy at work told me he said instead of knocking out those last questions. I should’ve took my time on them and just worked until the time was up and he said you might’ve actually even better who knows

trick for ~ bitwise operator in python (other bitwise operators below) ~ is two's complement. To do this I'll give an example of ~20. 20 in bits would be 0001 0100. Everything after the first one, swap the numbers, in this case 0001 0100 --> 1110 1100. If the furthest left part of the binary number is a 1, the number is negative, if a zero it's positive. Therefore, this will equal -20. Some more bit wise operators you must know are |, &, and ^. To teach what these are, think like you would in Java. in python, the and operator is used, in java though && means the same thing. If I insert the numbers 1 and 0 (remember, in programming 1 is typically True and 0 is typically False) as they are not both true this will equal zero. The | operator is like the python or operator or in java the || operator. As long as one value is True, the end result is True, so if I insert the numbers 1 and 0, this will equal 1. The ^ operator is one I'm sure those with knowledge in java are well aware of. That's right, this is xor or exclusive or. Both values MUST be different for this to be True. if you insert 1, 1, ^ will make this 0. If I insert 0, 0, ^ will make this 0. If I insert 1, 0, ^ will make this one. Same applies to 0,1, ^ will make this one
@TheTattedIT2 жыл бұрын
Thanks I remember learning the operators in a Digital Logic course back in college. Although I hate Java this really helped me understand the concept. Thanks for breaking down the two’s complement. That was the first time seeing it when study for this exam.
@jermm21832 жыл бұрын
@@TheTattedIT no problem! Here's a video that explains two's compliment better if anyone is interested kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pJyklLOT2LjVhmg.html and glad I could explain the & | and ^ operators so that they are more comprehendible! I'm actually taking my PCEP tomorrow here so I was trying to challenge myself to learn it by explaining it in a teachable way. I'm really nervous for the PCEP because I know the stuff but they ask questions with such weird syntax in the Python Essentials 1 class. edit: passed with an 81%!! To anyone who takes the exam, there was no bitwise operators in mine, though there were a surprisingly high amount of for else statements, and questions with tuples, dictionaries, list + string manipulation, conditionals, and loops. On a for else statement, my trick is to treat "else" as "if no break." In other words, if the loop is never broken by "break" then the else statement will run once when the loop ends. Remember that tuples are immutable but can be sliced and learn how setting defaults on parameters work. From there it's just silly syntax with calling unnecessary indexes and seeing if you can figure them out (this is where all my points lost comes from at least.) Study all that and you should be able to get a 90+
