Too bad I missed the live, cause I had a question - I know there are three ways to say "they" in Icelandic: þeir, þær and þau. However, is it okay if I use only "þau", no matter the gender?

I'd love to have a video regarding the "r" at the end of a word. I often heard native speakers kind of replacing the r at the end with a "sshh"-eque-sound I can't really reproduce correctly. When I hear you say "Takk fyrir" it sounds to me like "Takk fyrish". Is that just regional accent or a common rule when r is at the end?

I’m currently working on a book where some of the characters will be speaking Icelandic and was wondering if you could help me with pronunciation/spelling/word order. I would like to use the phrase “my light” / “you are my light “ as a term of endearment. I have found ‘light’ is ljós and ‘my’ is mitt but I’m not sure if just putting them together would work. I find the language very beautiful and wish to be respectful of it and use it properly within my writing.

Very respectfully that is not the Icelandic pronunciation of the alphabet. What you are doing is repeating the name of the letters again not their sounds...

Hi Óskar! I really like your videos and you. So takk kærlega! I wondered, have you ever thought about a cooperation with the YT channel "Easy languages" so that you could start a "easy icelandic" channel? Just wanted to let you know this possibility, but maybe you already have thought or heard about it and decided to go for your "own" brand, which is absolutely legitimate. Bless Bless!

For vacation! I started last year before our first trip in July, the reaction from some locals was amazing when they spoke to me in English, and I responded in Icelandic. It's a great icebreaker to feel more connected to the people and the culture. My grandparents came to the US from Sweden so I had already been exposed to some basic Scandinavian as a boy.
