I’m uploading the same ride in Ultra FOV (not quite as curved and seems to bring the scenery closer.) I’m also planning on uploading the same ride in Dewarped FOV (flat) for comparison.

@mcpastor63Ай бұрын
When I moved to KC, a friend advised me to get lower gearing and spin up the hills. There are lots of them, so I did. I found my cadence overall increasing. When the hills reach 9 percent and more, I find myself using a different technique, sitting back on the saddle with hands on the top of the bars, pushing the pedals and standing occasionally. It’s interesting that by spinning, the power meter shows higher power than grinding a large gear.
@dfriz8513Ай бұрын

another good video sir! you ride faster than I do--I think you passed me at some point. What kind of camera do you use? Very good pictures and a lot of memory
@mcpastor63Ай бұрын
Thanks about the video. I don’t put a lot of production into them, but some have commented they like the realism instead of hype and background music. There are times during the ride when I think the camera is off but it is actually on and vice versa. (Lots of those on day 5 haha.) But it’s kind of nice to catch the vibe of the rest times. It’d be cool to meet up once in 2024. The camera is a Hero 10. I think it does a great job. I ride with 4 little batteries and swap them out during the ride when the camera beeps signifying it’s out of juice. Then I use a 20mAh battery bank to recharge them while camping. The GoPro uses mini SD cards and I think a single 256gb is enough for the whole week. But I have another in case. I use MacBook (I just got a new MacBook Air with M3 chip and it’s great) and iMovie to produce the videos. I have a foam cover that reduces wind noise but it causes the camera to overheat and is a pain to change batteries mid ride so I leave it off.

@user-kq6om9om4p2 ай бұрын
I miss those days so much. I started racing in 87 at the age of 14. I used to go to the local book store every month to get the latest edition of "Winning" magazine. I would go home and tear out all the pics and hang them on my walls. I would stare at them for hours hoping to be like them one day.

@@JestersMuse-333 That's cool as hell. I never got a chance to race against Lance as a junior. He was still into triathlons then. But I had heard of him. He was supposed to race at the La Vuelta de Bisbee my last year as a junior, but he was a no show. I did race against Jonas Carney many times in California, the Jules once in Redding. But I did train one winter with Hincappies brother Rich in Arizona back in 88. They came out from New Jersey. Its so cool to meet like minded people. Peace out old soul.✌️

Wow a post from GSI!! I’m looking forward to tweaking my Coffee Rocket recipe. I think it will be good for single brews while camping. I thought of a few hacks, and I’ll do another video. Like, the GSI grounds basket is about the same diameter as my Porlex grinder, so I can grind directly into the GSI basket. Also, pouring from the spoutless kettle I boiled with was a challenge. The FireMaple stove’s French Press lid has a better pouring spout so I can use it or something as a funnel. I’ll grind a little finer to taste as well. If you have any tips let me know! I like how the GSI Coffee Rocket fits inside the GSI Infinity mug and the parts clean off with a squirt from my bike water bottle.

Haha sorry. Unscrew the hex knob the whole way. Feel the loose slack on the rubber strap behind the foot you just unscrewed. Push and wiggle the strap forward toward yourself and you should be able to pop the strap’s rubber endpoint toward you and have it come loose from its retainer track. It’s hard to find the words. I hope that’s clear enough.

In dry weather they’re still great. I’m still on my first set of LightBicycle pads. Looks like these wheels will last a good long time. They’re still true. In a hard rain they’re scary though due to almost nonexistent stopping power. There’s just very little friction when the surface is soaked. I don’t generally ride in the rain, but I got caught out once or twice. I’m still glad I got them.
