Hahaha that flip step seems crazy! I am into 3d printing, so my mind says print a 3d custom grabber or something that is the right size to hold everything in place during that step, so there's no chance of the column falling and having to arrange it again.

Interesting. Yeah I'm sure there could be something more effective. For full size cubes or smaller mosaics I wrap rubber bands around and flip the whole thing at once. Either way it's not a big nuisance/priority though as flipping accounts for something like a 30th of the total build time.

@@twistpixel Unless it was me, because it would also account for having to do them again, I have tried stacking things like that in the past, and always end up panicking and dropping them. Great video btw.

This is an interesting topic, but a boring video. Biggest change I would make is NOT having your small picture-in-picture reaction-style video in the lower left. There's just something about it that multiplies the boringness. It's almost so-bad-it's-good. Almost. Second thing I would do is make sure you aren't pausing the footage like that. Just let it play. Keep things moving. A still image in a video is a death sentence. Like dead air on the radio. If your narration takes longer than the footage that you have, you can always repeat footage, (not recommended) find or create some other appropriate footage to add, or if you must do a freeze frame, do a slow zoom-in or zoom-out. It's called the Ken Burns effect. Third, are you really not going to tell us how long it took you to make that thing? That's like the one and only most interesting piece of information, and you deliberately omit it? So lame! Oh, also, you omitted just how much the bar paid you for this piece. You might have a very good reason not to share that information, but if you included it, it would certainly make the video more interesting. Your thumbnail was decent, but a better one would have been a shot of the final product, with a single cube off to the side, rotated so you can see 3 of the faces, and much larger so we can see it's a rubix cube. And maybe some text, "Made of Rubix cubes," with an arrow pointing at the mosaic. Ok, that's all from your friendly neighborhood video editor.

What's the backer board made out of, and is it capable of holding larger mosaics?
@twistpixel4 ай бұрын
I used to use foamed PVC. More recently I use an aluminum sheet with a plastic core. Both are capable of building very large mosaics.

Why not wrap the rubber bands before you flip it?
@twistpixel4 ай бұрын
I don't like to recommend that because above that size that method gets kinda dicey and I don't want to be responsible for cubes everywhere. In this case, that would work.

You could have put the rubber band and then turned the entire set at once.
